| I have a weird dog... Hi guys!! I have a 7 months old female, and she's my 1st yorkie... But now a days she's acting weird... when I take her out to walk she doesn't want anymore! She stops walking every 3 steps and pulls back the leash... and if ANYTHING gets stuck in her fur she sits or lays down and definely won't move anywhere!!! I live in a neighborhood w/ lots of trees, so it's impossible to not step in a few leaves... so I have to pick her up and clean her fur all the time so she takes a few more steps... This's bugging me so bad!!! Another thing is she is afraid of other dogs, even the tiny ones like her. My furbaby is weird... I've never ever seen such behavior in an animal, usully they love to go for a walk... Has anyone had experienced something like that?? Any opinion or comments are welcome... Katiuscia and Maggie |

| My Jewels is afraid of small dogs too if they bark. I just started taking her on frequent walks like 2 a day and she got used to it

| My first Yorkie Trixie used to decide when and how far she would walk. When she thought she had walked far enough she would just lie down with her paws in th air, then you would have to carry her back. One day I was carrying her back she was fast asleep in my arms with her head nearly dangling and everyone we saw thought she was dead! Trixie was very particular where she walked, anything she didnt like it was lie down, paws up,help mum!

| Oh, she's not weird. Both of my yorkies refuse to walk if something gets stuck on them or their hair. It scares them I guess. |

| She is not weird , it is just a stage of life . Nathan was like your little one for about 1 month and 1/2 . I carried him and went to places with him , showing him that small dogs were not a danger for him . You can reassure the little one but not too much . |

| I have a 6 month old who hates to go on walks and if he gets a you know what stuck on his beeeeehind, he yelps like someone is beating him. When I first stated walking him with a harness leash he would lay down and refust to get up, he would drag to the point of having to carry him. NOW, he will walk real fast but you can tell he isnt enjoying the walk - his tail is tucked and his rear end is real low. When I get the leash out to go for walks, my other two are going nuts and the 6 month old runs off and hides. I have no idea why he hates going for a walk and I have even changed the harness collar for a slightly differnt harness collar but no such luck with improvments. |

| My little Bailey HATES being outside even if I carry her. Am going to a Pet and Animal expo tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to find a bag to carry her around in. |

| hi I can't say this has ever been a problem with either of my two. Dougal is utterly fearless and although Dixie's a bit of a wuss bag she'll walk out ok, Dougal gives her confidence. You could try taking her for lots of little walks. Just one or two minutes - or end of the driveway and back. Build up her confidence that going for walks is a fun and pleasant thing. Take a toy if she likes toys, give her lots of treats. Praise praise praise when she does take those few steps freely. Don't scold when she stops just make sad disappointed noises. Does she come to you when you call? You could try playing a fun game of "come" with lots of treats and praise if she runs freely towards you. Perhaps you could get her a little coat to help stop things getting in her hair. Dixie gets upset by twigs in between her legs - Dougal on the other hand could be towing round half the forest before he realises there's a problem - BOYS!
