| Puppy Shower? I've always loved that no matter what kind of question I come up with, I can usually do a search here and find an answer. I was amazed at how much I could find on poop eating! And Sometimes i post a new question to get more updated replies than what's in the archives. But this may be a new one on ya... so here goes Has anyone ever had a puppy shower? If so, how did it go? Like a baby shower, but all dog stuff? I don't have and never will have any skin kids (my choice) and get all miffed when I have to go to other people's baby showers and give gifts... because I knew when we got puppies we'd need all the stuff. Not going into cute outfits and shoes or strollers... just the toys, crate, collars, leashes, bowls etc. was alot. But it's not socially accpetable to really throw yourself a party and say gimmie gifts. Yet, I see it as the same thing. Is that odd? Sure dogs aren't a necessity. But really, children aren't either. The world has no shortage of humans currently... and dogs are so much more pleasant than alot of humans. (not referring to anyone here of course Teresa |

| I think that would be alot of fun. Trying to find the right gift that's unique. Because you can only use so many food & water dishes. Can we bring our furbabies, so they can all have fun playing together? Like everyone does with their kids. I'd go if I was invited to one. My sister-in-law got a new puppy. When we went over to see him we brought him a toy & some treats. |

| I think that is a great idea and sounds really fun. I would definately go to one if I was invited. I have a tendency to not only spoil my dogs but other's dogs as well. I wish I knew alot of dog people, I could have really used a puppy shower. Unfortunately most of my friends and relatives are not big dog people and even if they do like dogs that arn't into spoiling them like I do and they think I am crazy for treating my dogs like children. I really don't see any difference in a baby shower and a puppy shower. To us our puppies are our children.

| My Step-mom was going to throw me one since I'm not having kids. She thought it would be fun and I agreed. Having a new puppy is expensive. Well we opted against it b/c a lot of my friends would have thought I was weird and just out for a gift. But if I was invited to one, I'd for sure go!

| Puppy showers are becoming more popular. There are sites with ideas (http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?sec...ws&id=3169925), supplies (http://www.funstufffordogs.com/Qstor...1864534&BACK=), etc. The thing with showers though is that you don't usually throw them for yourself -- someone else does it for you. And puppy showers, just as the human baby showers are optional -- so I would not get all "miffed" and feel you have to buy someone a gift. If your heart is not in it, forgo the shower.

| I think a puppy shower would be a blast. I say GO FOR IT. There will always be folks who think you are very strange with your baby, but you will find just as many who are right there with you!! Most of my family still think I've gone over the edge and repeatedly tell me I need grandkids. They just don't understand cause no one has ever had a toy dog. Even those who have had cats don't understand, cause the cats have been huge and not at all cuddlers!! I'd love to go to a puppy shower - perhaps why I like to participate in the gift exchanges here so much!!!!

| I'd love to go to a puppy shower! I always give gifts when people are expecting babies, but I don't like going to the shower. I think the puppy shower would be more fun!

| I'm totally on board. I was a little miffed that no one gave me a puppy shower, considering all the baby shower, wedding shower, and wedding gifts I have given through the years, with nothing in return. I say go for it! |

| A puppy shower sounds like a great idea! If you do have one, do let us know how it goes! I imagine it to be a lot of fun, especially if your friends have Yorkies too. Plus, if your friends expect you to support them for a baby shower, they should support you for your puppy shower if you choose to have one. |

| I say GO FOR IT!!!! Some people might think it's weird, but who cares. Having a small dog (especially a Yorkie) is like nothing else. Jaxon has completely converted my husband's family who were ALL big dog lovers. After spending time with Jaxon - they have fallen in love. A shower would be fun. You could even come up with a 'wish list' of things you need and where people can get them!

| When I first started chatting on this board a few months ago I asked the same question! LOL http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53453 I think it's a FABULOUS idea! Once I bring home my little prince I'll wait a few months (just to let him get settled and make sure he's done with all his shots) and then have a bunch of friends over to my mom's (with their dogs too!) and have a little pooch party. |
