| Please help I have 2 yorkies and love them to pieces but they are driving me crazy at night. I always let my first yorkie sleep in my bed with me and when I got the second yorkie I also let him sleep in the bed but now with the two of them it is getting crowded. My older yorkie gets in and out of the covers all night long and I am a light sleeper and wake up all the time. Any ideas on how to break the habit and get my boys to sleep in their beds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Kellie Eddie and Jakie

| Maybe you could teach them to sleep at your feet..thats what I did. So if they want to go in the covers they go from the end of the bed. |

| Wish I could help but....I'm one of those "bad" mommies who doesn't let her's sleep in my bed. When we had our first yorkie, Katie slept with us every single night of her life. After she crossed Rainbow Bridge, we got Gabby a year later and decided to not let her sleep with us. Then, when we got Gage last year, we just naturally left him in the kitchen with her. When we are at the deer camp is the only time they get in the bed with us.....and sometimes, when hubby is working his shift at the fire station, I'll let them sleep with me. Best of luck to finding the happy medium for you all

| Yorkies looooooooooooove to sleep in bed with their parents, all I can suggest is a bigger bed. I put a shelf the same length and just as tall as the top of the bed on the wall next to my bed. My bed is right up to their shelf so they can if they want still come on the bed, but they really do enjoy their own beds. I than put all their little beds on the shelf I had made. It works, they have their own bed and can sleep in their beds right next to me. Now everyone sleeps better. I also put hinges on the shelf so I could raise it to the wall to make my bed easier. Good luck!! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm no help - I have 3 with me everynight - and they DO have their own beds - right next to the bed ... but at night - they stay empty. |

| The only suggestion would be to put them in their own beds, tell them to stay, and ignore the jumping and whining to come into your bed. And stick to your guns. But how can you do that! (I couldn't). That's why both of mine sleep in the bed with us, and we rarely get a good night's sleep!

| My puppy is 3 months old. I feel really bad when I go to bed because sometimes I do want him to come sleep with me, but I feel like he's too young. I'm not sure if he'll know to go to his pee pads to go, plus, my bed is too high for him to get down from. How old were your babies before they started to sleep with you, and were they potty trained? |

| I can't help you either, my Joey sleeps with me, but the girls sleep in their beds in their crates.

| Well you could put their beds in the kitchen close the door. You could get a bigger bed. I have a love seat pushed up against the side of the bed that makes my bed a little bit bigger. Often they will sleep there giving me some peace. If you have room you could try a love seat pushed up anywhere against the bed. |

| I soooo don't have any advice on this one. I had the rule - no doggie on the furniture or in the bed. It sure didn't last long. Every once in a while Punkin will get up out of bed and go sleep on the couch - we feel sad without her and at 3 am I'm peeking around the house looking for her to come to bed with us. In bed she has to be as close to us as possible. It sure is cute when I sleep in on the weekends she so patiently will get her face as close to mine as possible and when I open my eyes she is pleading 'is it time to play'. I swear she knows the days of the week. I'm not sure how an 8.5 pound doggie can take up so much room and hog the blankets...but it happens and we love every minute of it

| Well you just have to be tough!!! AND STRONG!!! Gracie and Snickers sleep with us everynight. Zoey has to sleep in her crate , die to the fact that she is not potty trained. If you dont want them too, then you just have to make that decision and be strong. It's hurts but if it lets you get more sleep..... |

| Mine sleep with me also and love to hog covers and snuggle and Derek wants to be on the pillow between my hubby and me. We both love them so much it is allowed every night. I have tried to put them in their "beddy by" and make them stay, but I miss them. What did work when I was trying was to cover the crate with a blanket so they couldn't see me or light. That helped with crying. I have read in several books that dogs actually like to have their own space and have often caught mine in the kennel, even though they didn't have to be. Just laying on the bed relaxing with the door open. So maybe them having their own place isn't so bad to them. Maybe the one who wants to sleep together is me. Just a thought to help you get her out if you really need to. Good luck.

| I wish I could solve this problem also.. I too gave in and Diezel sleeps with me... this is one of the biggest challenges I have with him... he is relentless and will bark and cry all night until I pick him up... and it went on for weeks... Donna Jean I would love to see a pic of the shelf. I am having a hard time getting a visual lol |

| It is a six foot long piece of ply wood and it is 2 ft. wide. We put it up with brackets, and it has a piano hinge the whole length of the board. The board is the same Highth of the bed, and is right below the window so the furbabies can stand up and look out the window. Than we just put a screw in the wall with a screw in the ply wood so I can lift the long board up when making the bed. I had 6 dogs at the time and their six beds fit on just right, they all knew which bed was theirs and the fact that the board was hinged to the wall and also had brackets the puppies could not fall off the bed. They now sleep in the SunRoom with me on the bed, as I turned my bedroom into a sleeping and play room for my fur babies. I will look through some of my pictures and see if I can find one I can post. It really worked well as before the dogs would sleep between my husband and i and with the board they sleep against the wall and my husband and I have the whole bed. I think you would love to do one as you babies just sooooooooo want to sleep with you and that way you have your bed and they have theirs. |
