| Grooming How often do you take your Yorkie to the groomer? Is it true that we should clip the hair around their little eyes? Sadie is pawing around her eyes, and I wonder if the hair should be clipped? Do you clip this area yourself? What other areas do you clip inbetween cuts? Thanks. Kate |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I took Chanel to the groomer from when she was little and she is now 3 and I can honestly say not one of them cut her properly but you're at their mercy...Even with WRITTEN directions - they either didn't do something or they did too much - so good luck !! I do both my girls myself now... The main things are ...EARS TIPPED....the hair inside the ears plucked...Trimming under the eyes...Feet shaped...a sanitary trim..male or female - the groomer will know - and their little butts done. I have a small Wahl trimmer and I very carefully trim under the eyes for both of mine - like where the tear stains would be if they had them....you don't want too much trimmed because you want the hair on their face to grow and it will stick into their eyes if too much is cut there.. My younger yorkie - Cheri, is a puppy...I worried about how she'd be with ME doing this - and she was fine - all I do is her eyes and butt...so I don't go to the groomer anymore !! YAY ! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ooops !! Forgot to add if your puppy has lots of hair - have the hair UNDER their feet around their little pads trimmed also ..when it's trimmed down it will help them with traction ! |

| Thank you so much. I apologize for the late reply, but for some reason I could not access YT. I also bought a Wahl trimmer yesterday. It did not state the size, but seems a little on the big side. Walmart only had one size. This helps alot. Kate QUOTE=red98vett]ooops !! | I take Esme to the groomers once a month because I am too scared to do it myself! I have them cut between her eyes, trim under her eyes, shave the tips of her ears, take the hair out from inside her ears, and the hygenic trim (pee and pooppy areas). Overall I am happy with the groomer. It's the same people who have been grooming my moms pomeranians for years, so I was already familiar with them.
