Yorkie's nose Hi all, I am pretty new here and I need some information. I just went to see my breeder and put down my deposit for a puppy. She is so beautiful. But I noticed her nose isn't black. Should I concern?? She is 7 weeks old. I will be picking her up in 4 weeks. Will her nose be black by then???

I would be, she's lacking pigment. Has she reduced her price because of this, I would. I'm sure you were told it would come in. You have to be prepared for the fact that it might not. Here is a quote from a sticky at YT The newly-born Yorkie has a nose that is mostly gray, showing a small amount of pink on the edges of the nostrils. The nose should be a dark gray at around 21 days and definitely black by two months. It is very unusual to see a mismarked nose in a Yorkie and it should be considered a very bad problem. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16045 Hope this helps,

nose I would not be concerned either...at 7 weeks that is not unusal..it will darken in a few weeks...I have had a few that were still a bit pink at 8 weeks...but I do not place mine as young, so by 12 they are black.

Pink? Brown? Well, I thought brown but I guess it is kind of pinkish??? It is lighter color. I have a picture but I don't know how to attach.... It may be too big of the file. What I notices was her sister had same color nose. So I email my breeder and ask about it. She said she didn't notice it until I mentioned. She checked other litters and one other had similer color nose. She said it gives her a charactor...

| I would want to see pictures of the parents. What color is the skin around the puppies eyes. I know that a lot of dogs with the brownish pink noses also have the same color around the eyes. If that is how this one is I would not get it. Charactor or not Yorkies are suppose to have black noses as adults. Other litters may have similar coloring bc they are related.

pigment Lack of black pigment is common in Maltese, BUT not in Yorkies...if this is a worry to you then do not buy the pup, BUT it is perfectly normal...I have never had a pink nose not turn solid black by 12 weeks...!

Thank you all. BTW, I forgot to introduce my baby. I will name her "Momiji." It means maple tree (Japanese). Just like maple tree, her color will change over time. She is sooooo cute!!!! I am sooo excited!!! I am keeping my finger cross and hope her nose will be black by the time I pick her up next month. Even her nose is not black, I'll adopt her anyway!!!! How can I say no to these big brown eyes!!!!!!
