| Question about car seats Do any of you use the doggy car seats? I was considering trying one for Indy. He is terrified to be in the car out of his crate and I was hoping that it is a security issue with him. I thought if I got a little doggy car seat that he would be OK in it because they have sides and a bottom so he would feel secure. It is such a pain to take the crate with me when we go for short distances in the car. Opinions would be great. Thanks Kim & Indy |

| I use a carseat for Coco and it was the best $50 I've ever spent on her. She loves it!! She is strapped in, which I love, cause it's safer, she is high enough to look out the window. So she usually is in there with her blanket half asleep, half awake watching the cars. It's the best decision I made. Here's a picture of her in her car seat.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I got a lookout car seat for Bengi; he does not like it much, but I think he will get used to it. Bengi, on the other hand, is not afraid of being out of his crate, he likes to be on my lap and look out the window. But I realized that's not good and can be dangerous, so I got the car seat. He's not very happy with it, but that's the best for him. |

| I got a lookout (my buddy) also. Both girls fit in it with room to lay down. They love it. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We bought 2 carseats - a lookout console for Magic and a lookout for Sailor. This was a great investment!!!! The girls love to travel in them and they are safe and secure.

| We have 2 carseats. Lookout and a lookout 2. Lily loves hers and the other 2 haven't tried theirs yet. I am so glad I bought them, I feel better knowing they are safer in the car and they can see out the window. I say a great product to have.

| Sully has the basic carseat from Outward Hound (the one that folds down and straps onto the seat)....and he LOVES it! Actually, I bought it from another YT member about six months ago, and Sully has used it almost EVERY day since! (Still THANK YOU Kristy! Seriously, it was the best purchase ever, lol!) I live about 20 minutes from where I work, and Sully goes to and from work with me so his carseat saves the day on busy road driving, ya know? (Otherwise he'd prefer to be on my lap, lol!) If you do a search for "Sully" and "carseat" I am sure you could find pictures of him in the car, lol.

| I've been wanting to get Max a carseat too. He was great when he was little and we took him places in the car; he'd just eventually crawl into his carrier and go to sleep, but now he gets all nervous....shakes like a leaf, starts panting (usually when my husband is driving and I think it's his attitude (making rude comments and running commentary on other drivers ), but he does it sometimes when he's just with me too; not the panting part, but he shakes sometimes. I think he'd feel better if he could sit up higher and see what's going on around him. He usually settles down after awhile, but I'm wondering if it's b/c our cars aren't big enough (we both have Jaguar xk8's) and when we travel anywhere, we usually rent a large car (luggage issues ). It's better for Max anyhow, b/c then he's got his big carrier to lie down in or he can sit on the seat in between us or whatever he wants to do. Does anyone else have this problem? And also, does anyone else have a small car that they have to drive their dogs around in? I know it's not safe to have Max sitting on my lap, even tho he usually just lies down, but if anything happened, and the air bag went off.......I hate to think about it. Anyhow, I need to get a carseat!

I sold that and invested in the Lookout and she has LOVED it since. With the console, she is right next to me - I can put my arm around her and snuggle. She both looks out the window and lays down and goes to sleep. It is very soft and comfy. The console car seat is safe because cars don't have an airbag in the middle. It sits up high enough on the console of the car to allow for viewing out the window. This could be an option for a small, or 2-seater car as long as the car seat will fit between the seats. There are two sizes of console car seats, one for dogs 6lbs or under and a larger version, but the larger version would need a wider, longer console.

| We have this one. Loki loves it. He treats it like his crate and when I put him in there it is time for a nap! It even makes getting in and out of the car a little safer because I can leave him strapped in until I'm ready to take him out. Plus, of course it is safer for crashes but I find it very handy just for daily use. http://www.amazon.com/Pet-Stow-Away-.../dp/B000634MJG PS This one is a little bigger for the bigger pups, although my friend just got one for her 2 pounder and she loves it too.

| I really appreciate the feedback here! We all want to do what's right for our babies and not waste money. I hate buying something and then realizing it's just not the right thing. It may be right for someone else, but we all have different needs and it's so great to have such a diverse forum here to explore what works for some and not for others! I know that unless Max is tired and wants to sleep, he'd never tolerate being not attached to me, LOL, so I think that the console lookout is what we need...at least for everyday. I'm sure he'll still try to crawl into my lap, but at least if he can see outside, it might persuade him to stay in it!!! I just know it's not safe to have them on your lap. I used to drive (like for 15 yrs) with my large parrot sitting either on the top of the back seat of my Jeep Cherokee, or on my shoulder, and never ever had a problem, but I know I was testing fate. Now that I'm older (and poorer ...I mean, WISER ), I don't want to take any chances with Max. I think it might be a good idea for me to get both the console lookout and the other one for the backseat...I LOVE how it has storage underneath...that's a great idea!!! That way, if we do travel in a big car with a backseat, Max will have a place to retreat to, and he can still sit in front with us too. And he'll be safe driving around town in my car...at least til I relent and get an SUV, LOL! Thank you everyone for your input, it really really does help !
