| Okay, those of you who have 3 or more... i need your advice. Okay hubby has let me have up to 3 pups so i have Little girl who will be 4 on halloween, she is very very very laid back, perfers to be alone, and at night likes to cuddles under the blankets, no problems out of her, Remmie is almost 8 months old, most of the puppyness has dissappeared, still runs through the house sometimes still has accidents, likes to lift his leg since he discovered how, belly bands are awesome! likes nasty smelly things like poopy diapers, sweet loyal and protector of the house....Then we have the newest addition Pixie she is the pom pup she is alomst 4 months old, she wines, barks, runs, chews, stays under the feet, very very loving and sweet also likes poopy diapers. now i would like info on wether or not your pups have run of the home all the time, or do you put them up so that you can have fmaily time..my thing is this hubby gets tired of all of them except little girl (thats his dog) when they start running around playing and jumping on everyone and pouncing off people and furniture i really dont know how to control them, i shut all the doors but the living room, where we are normally, but they are very rambunctous together, pixie has constant accidents..Hubby says there are too many dogs, So our normal routine is In the morning i let pixie out of the crate and put her outside and let the other two out at the same time (they sleep w/ us) let them run outside for a couple of hours before i leave for work, let them in to socialize w/ me and the baby, out pixie in the crate, remmie in the kitchen and leave little girl out w/ run of the house, come home let them all outside, for a couple of hours let them in for an hour or so put pixie in the crate for bed, go to sleep.. repeat. i feel very unfair to locking pixie up but she has too many accidents to leave out during the night (waiting on some panites i ordered).. What is you routine w/ yours? im wondering if 3 is too many..i would really hate to have to find a new home for any of them but if one needed to go i would have to let pxie go she was the last one i got. But she is the sweetest one to me, so loving lays in my lap when it is just me and her and kisses, kisses she even defleas me (i was told that a loving thing) but she was the last one i got and i know i could not let go of remmie or little girl. and now my husband wants me to quit my part time job and work for him thru the company he works for and travel. im not sure i could travel w/ 3 dogs i think 2 would be okay but not three and a toddler.. any advice on any of these subjects? thanks |

| I have 3 pretty much the same situtation as you the oldest is really laid back and the other 2 are wild as can be lol. I just let them roam free day and night. You should set limits though kinda let them know your in charge or they will take over I limit them from 2 rooms in the house. They do have accidents sometimes. I heard somewhere its harder to train smaller breeds Its fun though right? Never a dull moment |

| Well im not sure its fun anymore..i love them all but sometimes i think it is too much and remmie also likes to run out the front door, and not come back..it makes me so mad!!! he just did that now at 11:30 at night im screamming for him to come back, he came back when i said i didnt care and shut the door, he came right back then, knew what was good for him i guess..im really debating listing Pixie i started a thread because me and the husband argue so much over the dogs and my parents has the exact same arguments when i was growing up except she had shelties so my husband said dont be stupid so i think the thread was cancelled but im scared it might not work out, shes the only one to really dote on me.but i have feeling that potty training is not happening i still dont think she comprehneds potty outside, no potty inside, i have had several dogs and you know when they have comprhended you and are ust having accidents she is not like that, and sometimes when i go to pick her up she pee, i dont know what the breeders home was like but it reflects on her. but then again she is really loving but i look at her and really want her and to watch her grow but i dont know how to handle 3 dogs inside..i need tips on keeping so many inside |

| Well I have 5 dogs, soon to be 7. The oldest Peppi who is 8 years old has free roam over the entire house. She is an angel, have absolutely no problems with her. The other 4 don't have full rein of the house yet. They are not quite housetrained, they are very close, and they are in that " I got to get into everything stage." So when I am not in the room or when I am not able to watch them, they go in their playpen. I have two playpens beside each other so they can play, eat/drink, sleep and use the pad there. But they are out most of the time. As time goes on and they are housebroken and learn how to behave they will be out all the time with full rein of the house. We just have not gotten to that point yet. We are getting very close. Trixie has almost full priveladges and Destiny is almost there, she just has to learn not to put everything in her mouth or eat everything she sees. There is no way I could let them all roam all day through the entire house without them being trained. That is why I have the playpen. I could never house train them all at the same time having them have full rein of the house all day. I would be cleaning accidents and messes up all day. The playpen gives them some restriction when I am not able to watch them. And they are learning what they are allowed to do, the playpen is such a good training tool. It won't be long before they all have full priveladges. My advice to you is, if your dog is not fully house trained and potty trained, do not give them full access of the house. It is too hard if not nearly impossible to try to train more than one dog when they have full priveladges and are not restricted and are not trained yet. This doesen't mean you keep them in the cage or pen all day. Just when you are not there too put all of your attention on them. It might seem mean penning one dog up and not another, but the dog who is completely trained that has full rein of the house has earned it and the other one should have to earn it too. For now, concentrate on training one dog, it is much easier and will be quicker. Little girl is trained so you shoulden't have to worry about her. Remmie, in my opinion, is not completely trained yet. If he is still having accidents and still getting into stuff, then he is not fully trained. House breaking them is not enough. They need to learn not to get into everything and to listen to you and do what you ask. So I would work on fully training him which shoulden't take that long since he is already very close. Once he is trained you can let him have full priveladges and access of the house and you can concentrate on training Pixie since you will no longer have to worry about Remmie. It can be difficult until you are to the point to where they are all trained, but it is well worth it. I love having as many dogs as I do and woulden't trade it for the world.

| I do kind of what you do. I make sure they all get time to run around togehter. Then there are times I only have one out at a time (to get their individual attention). ...and to tell the truth, there are times none of them are out. They love the individual time the most I think but I try and keep them well balanced. |

| I have 3, Buffy my chi is almost 5 and has free run of the house she is completely house broken. Rocco my pom is 10 months and has free run, but I keep a close eye on him because he can have an accident but doesn't if I let him out on a regular basis. Lily the yorkie who is 5 months does not have free run of the house. I keep her gated in my kitchen(which has wood floors for easy clean up) unless she is in her crate or I can watch her 100%. They all 3 get play time for a couple of hours at a time a few times day in our family room which is in the downstairs and has a door from the upstairs. I still have to keep a close eye on Lily. I do not work outside of the home so this woks easy for me. I don't let a puppy have free run of the house until it is housebroken(depends on the dog but usually 6 months or so). They need to be confined to a small space so you can prevent accidents, it makes the housebreaking a lot easier. If we leave the house they all 3 go in their crates(even our chi). That way I don't worry they are getting into something or having an accident. It also makes going to a hotel easier since they need to be in a crate if you are not in the room. I would keep your pom confined in one room or in his crate when you can't keep an eye on him, until he is housebroken(this could take a few months). Good luck.

| Thanks. So It Is Ok To Leave The Youngest One In The Crate More I Felt So Mean. I Did Try Leaving The Two Youngest In The Kitchen Together While I Was At Work Or Out But I Came Home And It Smelled Like A Dirty Kennel All Through Out The House There Was Poop And Pee Every Where, I Left Toys And Paper Down To Potty On That Was Shredded, So I Put Them Out And Sprayed Bleach And I Wont Do That Again. I Thought They Would Be Happier Together And I Am Sure They Were But Omg Was A Mess And Stench But I Think I Will Work On Like And Hour In The Mornings In The Lving Room W/ Us And Then In There Areas While I Am At Work And One Hour In The Evening With Us Then Put Pixie Up And Let The Other 2 Relax .. |

| I agree two puppies and a toddler would be a lot of work. I can't see that there is anything wrong with your routine. It will just take time for them to mature enough to not be crazy. I enjoy the racing around the house, but then I don't have any little kids. My dogs are my kids. It's good that you are trying to resolve this issue now before Pixie gets any older. good luck on your decision. |

| It is really tiring when you have more than one puppy to housetrain. I have 4 dogs, 2 of which are housetrained and two, 9 mth old yorkies who are still a work in progress so I know what you are going through. I feel like I never get to sit and relax any more but I know that puppies grow up very quickly and then they are not so much work. I wouldn't feel bad about using the crate for Pixie. It is really better for them and as long as her needs are being met she will turn out fine. I walk mine 3 times a day and take them out to potty about 7 times a day (no kidding, they have to go a lot when they are active in the evenings). It is better to take them out more often than to have an accident. One of my 9 mth olds is 99% housebroken and the other yorkie that I have had for only a little over a month is probably 90% there. I know that if I keep working hard with them and get them trained properly now, that they will be all fun in the future. They provide so much fun and entertainment now but they are a lot of work. Well worth it in my opinion. |

| I have 5 furbabies. One chow-mix, she is 16 1/2 years old and house trained. Four yorkies. Maddie is 4, Rudy is 3, Polly is 2, and Sprout is 1. I am lucky they all are house trained to go out side or use a pad. Rudy is the one who will pee in the house if he wanted to go with me and I don't take him he will pee in the house, so he get a belly pad when I go. They have run of the house when I am home and when I leave they stay in the den. All furbabies are diffrent it takes time to housetrain.
