Problem with Lizzy This weekend I gave Lizzy a bath and I noticed that she has something by her rear end...I'm thinking maybe its a swollen anal gland...Now she was in heat about 2 weeks ago but is completely over that...but then I noticed that her tits are swollen....I'm really concerned over this.....With her cleft pallatte and hair lip I'm always expecting something else to be wrong with her...could this be what I have been expecting? I do have an appointment today to get her looked at. The vet ask me if she could be pregnant but she is never out of my site and the only dogs around here are 3 other yorkies....that are girls....and a poodle that is a girl and two other dogs that are wolf size...Lizzy is only 4lbs so unless she mated with a squirrel I really don't think there is a chance. Could her tits be swollen because she was just in heat? They seem to be more swollen today...any ideas? I'm really worried>

I am so sorry I can't help.....I don't have a clue but hopefully one of the other seasoned members can help you out. Hope she is okay and the vet provides a simple answer and solution.

She's could be going through what's called a false heat, exhibiting signs of pregnancy. I'm sure she's fine. Hoping for a good report for you.

Just got back from the vet...They say it looks like it is just hormonal from being in heat...they want to check her in a couple of weeks. Also they want me to get her spade soon cause she could also have a ovarian cyst. I know that I need to get her spade but with the cleft pallette the anesthesia worries me...them too cause she is soooo much smaller than her litter mates. They won't do the surgery until a bile acid test is done to rule out her having liver shunt. So I guess we start saving the money for all this.

Susan...I was thinking a false pregnancy too but they couldn't express any milk and she doesn't show any signs of nesting or anything so they ruled that out. thanks for your reply

| id just like to say dont think that a big dog cant get your yorkie pregant cos they can, ive seen a small yorkie clime on to a sofa so she could get to a lab to mate, so your little one could do the same.

I don't doubt that a big dog can get a little one pregnant but I am 100% positive that this did not happen but thanks for your comment.

My mother had a dog back in the late 70's that backed up to a chain link fence and got preg! She had 4 puppies. And Mom thought she was "safe" in the fence! Believe me, if they're in heat....they'll do whatever it takes!

Bless her heart. They just want to make sure she's healthy before, I'm sure she'll be fine. You're doing a great job, being diligent about her health. Some vets will take a post dated checks. Might can check into that.
