| Car Sickness I just got back from taking Bentley to visit my mom at work and on the way their he got sick in the car. He didnt really eat anything right before we left and I had the window cracked too. There were a couple of windy roads but he's been getting sick in the car pretty routinely now. I put his bed in the car and he just lays on that while I drive. I was wondering if you could offer any suggestions to preventing him from getting sick becuase he loves riding in the car he just gets sick. I was thinking maybe getting him on of those carseats so he could see out the window and maybe that would help. Im open to any suggestions cause I would really hate for him not to be able to ride in the car anymore. Thanks!! |

| Sandy actually does better in her crate in the car than in a car seat. Have you tried that? Also, maybe being able to see out the window would help -- I hope something does!

| Biddy used to get car sick everytime we took her out. She's grown out of it now, but now she hates the car!! She cries and cries everytime we go for a ride I think it reminds her of when she used to get sick & she's afraid she's going to get sick again! Or maybe I'm reading too much into it & she just hates the car in general! Anyhow I hope Bentley gets better!!!

| My yorkie used to get a bit sick. But he does enjoy car rides now. He used to just sit in the back and just try to just lay down, in a sort of sleeping position. This only makes it worse, as they are focused on whatever they are looking at in front of them (example, the back of your seat, or a light) AND they are still feeling the motion of the vehicle doing back and forth, up and down. (Ever notice how it is ALWAYS the passenger that gets sick, and not the driver?) I know this is somewhat dangerous, but...it works. I open the window and my yorkie is allowed to get fresh air. He sits on my lap (if I am alone in the car), and sticks his head out the window. I also scratch his chest and pet him. He becomes focused on stuff happening outside of the vehicle. He used to not enjoy car rides (obviously, because he would get sick), but now that he is not focused on the car...he enjoys himself quite a bit. And more importantly, he doesn't get sick. Please be advised as what I described is not safe and I in no way condone what I do as safe. It is quite similar to being on the cell phone while driving your car. Also, having your pet on your lap may cause problems (if he jumps directly in front of the steering wheel or in front of your face to give you a lick). Worse, if you get into an accident, and the airbag goes off w/ your pet in your lap! Please be careful. |

| Mine both like to ride in their carrriers. If they ride just in the seat or in the larger crate, Cheyenne will get car-sick. They like the smaller carrier, it makes them fell safe. (guess it is less moving around) |

| car seats I just got my puppy this weekend! yay! He doesn't get sick in the car (hopefully he won't) but he likes to sit in my lap, and i find it a lil difficult to drive that way because i have a stick shift. What does everyone think of the car seats that they make. And which kind are best?? |

| I think having them up high enough where they can see out and fresh air. And, there was a thread on here not too long ago about giving them a ginger snap cookie a 1/2 hour prior to the car trip, then bringing some with you if the trip was going to be more than 20 minutes. I've never tried it as Beau (knock on wood), so far hasn't gotten car isck. |

| Amber will get sick on long car rides. She has only got sick when we traveled from Ohio to Long Island New York which is about 10 hour drive. But traveling just here and there she does fine. I ordered a carseat for her because we will be making the long car ride in June. So I am hoping that it helps her out. I am not sure what else to do. |

| I think my doggy carseat is one of the best purchases I've made. It is a covered foam one that has a soft bed and a drawer in it to store there stuff. It sit up high and has a hook to secure their harnesses and it has trays on the front for food and water. They love it and so do I. I am so much less distravted than before. |
