| Does anyone have any idea? We have found a lump on Lucy's neck, we don't think there is anything to worry about, we think that it is about where her microchip is, but it is getting bigger which is slightly worrying! She is due for her booster shots in July so we will ask the vet then, but was just wondering if anyone has experienced this with microchips or has any ideas!! |

| Is it in the area where Lucy had her shots? Both of mine got injection site lumps that lasted for a while.

| Is she due to go back in soon? You might ought to take her in and have her checked. I can feel a very small lump where Mia's chip is but can't feel it on Bentley. Maybe it's her microchip.

I just went through this last week. As a matter of fact, I posted this question to this site. My Desi had a lump on her neck which we discovered one week after she receive her rabies shot in that general area. I began to panic, its was Saturday night and I wouldn't be able to reach my Vet until Monday. It was a horrible weekend worrying about that lump. The members here told me they had, in fact, seen this before and I felt a little better. On Monday I called the Vet, she told me not to worry and to wait about 3 days and it should go down, she said if it doesn't go down to come in to see her .. sure enough it went down. If I were you, I would still call the Vet, just in case, but it seems this can happen when they get a shot in that area. | |

| if it has been a really long time since her last shot AND it is growing, I would see the vet, just in case!

| I would give a call to the vet just to be on the safe side. If it's been that long since she got a shot in that area, I would hardly think it could be caused from her shot. Is it possible the microchip could become inflamed in the area around it? Hope little Lucy will be OK. Please keep us updated?

| I agree with Bettyanne. Best to call the vet. Is it possible it could be a bug bite? Bo sends kisses!

| My advice would be to go ahead and have her checked by your vet. ALWAYS err on the side of caution. And, another suggestion would be to have your vet do any injections in the right hip area. That way, you will always know where it is and you don't have to worry. I didn't even have to ask my vet to do the shots in the right hip-they have toy breed spec. and they routinely do them there. I also do the annual boosters in that spot. |

| Thank you all for your advice!!! We are gonna give the vet a call tomorrow morning and see what they say, whispersmom2 thank you for the advice about where to give the booster, I think it would help Lucy too as she shakes her head a lot when having injections and last time the vet got herself!!! Thank you!! |

| I agree with everyone that you shold have the area looked at right away. Whispersmom: I was curious about injection site. They always complain about no subcutaneous fat and then they still give the shot in the shoulder area. Is it because they do not know better? It makes sense that the hip would be better but why wouldn't they know this? Just curious. I don't want to be distrustfull of vets or bash them, but I wonder sometimes! |
