| Piper spayed & now humping I had Piper spayed a week ago last Friday. Today she tried to hump Misha several times. She has never done this before. Could her hormones be causing this? Like humans, if a woman get a hysterectomy, the Dr will prescribe medication for this. I'm just wondering if her body is lacking something that her ovaries used to produce. Has anyones little girl done this before? Misha is getting very upset with her, and doesn't seem to understand why she is doing this. Misha has never done this. I know boy dogs will do this, but I didn't know girl dogs humped. |

| When I was at the breeders' home where I got Angel from, a female Yorkie was humping another female to show dominance. I don't know if the one doing the humping was spayed or not though. |

| I sounds like it could be her hormones acting up. It does not sound like a dominance thing since she has never done it before. I have heard of alot of dogs, both male and female, start humping shortly after a spay/neuter. Most of the time the behavior went away after a few weeks or month. I was once told by a vet that having a female dog spayed throws them into like an early minopause (sp?). I don't know if it is true, just what I was told.

| For any of you yorkie owners that are about to get their baby spayed, the vet told me this was normal. Some girls will start humping after being spayed. Even if they have never done this before. It's caused from a high level of testosterone after surgery. It could stop after a week or a month. Or it could just keep happening, but less seldom. It wouldn't have changed my mind on getting Piper done, but I wish I would have know this. Not all females will do this, just some. Misha has never done this. |
