| Just keep taking him and he'll grow out of it. The best way to start is to do short trips to quiet places and gradually increase the time and distance and also vary the kinds of places as time passes to include more vehicles, buildings, people around, etc.

| Chachi cries if he is in his crate in the car. Jewels used to get sick. I agree frequent small car rides and they get used to it

| I think Mojo was born to ride in the car.....he just loves it! He gets excited when we are getting ready to leave...he jumps in his basket and is ready to go. I agree with everyone else....take a few short car rides and maybe that will get him use to it. We took Mojo places from day one, so he never knew any different.

| Gracie used to cry all of the time. She still does but it is getting less frequent. Take your baby in the car whenever you can, not just when going to the vet. Once baby associates the car with fun things, like going to the park or the puppy store, then it will seem less frightening. I also secure Gracie in a car seat, and make sure she has a toy or a chew to occupy her.

| Unfortunately I am still struggling with this - I have taken Buddy in the car since he was a little pup, and he still cries! He didn't for a long time, but has recently started again. he sits in his car seat and always has - nothing has changed. One thing that *really* helps is if I give him a "chicken lollipop" which is basically a "chicken jerky" piece that is stuck to a rawhide stick - he loves the chicken so much he will be absolutely silent for any length of car ride! So maybe give the pup a bully stick in the car? Just be sure to keep your eye on him. But: if Buddy eats too much his tummy doesn't feel so good, so I try to keep it to a minimum. Sorry you're struggling with it too! |

| Adonis (my 5 year old yorkie), didn't start out loving going for a ride. His first ride, besides to the vets office, was a trip from Mobile, AL to Austin, TX. He cried the first 30 minutes, to the MS state line. I just knew it would be a very long 10 hour drive. But he did quiet down. And now, all I have to say is "wanna go with Mama" and he's out the door before I am! He loves a ride. If I had it all to do over again, I'd started with short trips like yorkieusa suggested. I'd orginally trained Adonis to sit in the passanger seat by putting his bed in it. After that first trip, a car seat was bought, cause I knew with my Mom out there, we'd be making frequent trips out there. He loves his car seat, he can see out the window really good with it. He now rides in a car seat. Only time he gets out of it, is when he knows its time to get out of the car, at our destination. |

| Well, assuming you've tried all the "short rides to the park" first, then pretty much anything yummy he can chew on will work to keep him quiet. But I get these things at the local "holistic" pet store - "Pet N Shape Fine Chicken Treats" - I found them online here -- OK they're called "chicken skewers" but I like chicken lollipop better http://thepuppyshop.com/chickentreat2.html They're expensive but you get a bunch of them in a package and he goes through one every few days - make sure he is sitting on a towel or something because they're a little messy - they also have these "Duck & Rice Dumbbells" http://thepuppyshop.com/duckdumbbells.html I also find if I give one to him when he's in his bag he totally ignores everyone and no one knows he's in there! Let me know if it helps! |

| My two dogs (a Yorkie and a Bichon) each have a "lookout seat" in the back seat - and they both love to ride in the car. They ride - look around - take naps - change seats - and have fun....never bother me and never want to get in the front. Carol Jean |
