| Anal Glands Not to be gross, but I just brought Guinness about 10days ago to have his anal glands cleaned or expressed I am not sure the proper term. But he is doing the butt rubbing again which is what he did to make me bring him in the first place. 1st - is this normal to have them cleaned so much? Guinness is almost 2 years old. 2nd - I had not been on the board for a while and it seems to me all of us yorkie owners have the same problems and concerns. |

| You might try putting some hydrocortisone cream on his hiney! If it doesn't stop, then I would take him back to the vet, because they can sometimes have an infection in the anal glands. OK?

| I would take a peek, and have the vet take a peek. Sometimes they do get infections/abcess down there. Luckily I have only had to have Bruce's done once...The other thing I have heard is that sometimes parasites can cause this but rubbing, really only tape worms because little pieces the size of rice get out and stick around the butt...I would as gross as it sounds just force him to let you take a little peek.
