| What age are you suppose to..... Hello everyone, I am fairly new to YT. Well here is my dilema..I have an 11 wk. old puppy today..Gizmo..Well I live onbase and I go to the vet there right..Gizmo has gotten up to his 2nd shots and will get his 3rd shots next wednes...My problem is that the vet didnt schedule his rabi shot till a yr. from when he was born...Other pple such as the ones that work for Banfield at Petsmart have told me that that is incorrect that they are suppose to get a rabi shot anywhere from 12-16 wks of age...Does anyone on here know which one is correct?? Help because I dont want my baby bitting anyone and possible hurting or infecting them...HELP!!! |

| Different people have different opinions as to when puppies should get their rabies shot. Some people don't give rabies shots at all to their puppies. I would not worry about it and just do what your vet says. Your yorkie does not have rabies. It would have to be bitten by an animal that has rabies to get rabies. If your little yorkie came in contact with ANY animal that has rabies, I doubt it would live to be able to spread the rabies to something else. So, I would not worry about it and just do what your vet says. |

Never allow a vet to give rabies with the other vaccines, it is too much at once. | |

| both breeders I have dealt with have recommended not administering the rabies vaccine before they reach 6mths. Oscar didn't get his until 7mths and Ruthie will probably be getting hers a little early - just before she reaches her 6mths.

| Here in Brazil all dogs get their rabies shots with 120 days-old and sometimes it happens together w/ the others vaccines... and every year these 2 vaccines are done in the same day, and I've never heard of anybody complains of having any problems about it... I don't know what to think now... |

| Gracie has received enough Rabies vaccine to get her tag. She is just 4 months old. There were no real side effects other than a bit of lethargy as she does with all of her shots. Here is my take on the subject. If you take your baby outside for a walk, your baby should have received his/her vaccine. Birds, rodents, off-leash dogs, you never know what will attack your baby. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Gracie was attacked by off-leash dogs twice, at least I did not have to worry about what they had that she could get, because she has been vaccinated against everything. Just my two cents worth.

| I can't say which is correct, because I'm not a vet. But my vet just gave Venus her first rabies shot last week, and she's almost 4 months old. |
