Blue & Tan Coat vs Blue & Silver??? I have a question. My pup is a blue and tan, but I have read here that people prefer that color, but I have also read the blue coats are genetically not great and all their fur falls out, doesn't grow, or breaks off. Is my pup going to lose all her fur? She is 4 months old and very fluffy. Also doesn't blue mean silver? she has alot of silver coming in and she has a blond, caramel colored tan. Very confused.

Blue and gold are the preferred show color quality coats. What you are referring to is a baby born blue which is a genetic anomaly and carries many health problems and does lose the blue coat. These pups are born a silver grey blue color, not the normal black with tan points.

Here's a link with pics of the Yorkie standard. It shows what the standard is by pics so it is very informative for new Yorkie owners. Blue is definitely not silver, but not black. Here's is a pic that represents what blue looks like. I believe it to be a blue and tan from the way it looks on my monitor. http://dandugmore.netfirms.com/spiceseminar.html

I'm sure she isn't a blue-born. Blue means a really dark silver color. LIke the picture posted above.

| I wouldn't worry about the silver on the head just yet. Roxi's went from black to silver and is now tan. Titan's also firt turned grey and is now starting to turn tan.
