| Hair brushing... Has anyone ever had to shave their yorkie because their hair got matted down? Just wondering...and if so how long does it take the hair to grow back and will it grow back the same color? |

| The stupid Petsmart groomers shaved Howie b/c they said he was matted on his one arm. Which I don't think he was and that they are just LAZY. But, his hair should be grown back by Christmas and this happened in July. His coloring is different, but he's also young and he colors could be changing anyway. Did you have to shave your furbaby???

| I took my guy clear down a few montha ago. Reason being his dark coat was scraggly and he had his silver hair at the base He jsut looked messy and his baby hair was not pretty. It has not grown a ton but it is growing. I figure to get abck to the length it was it will take at least 6 months,His coat is not coming in the same color though. He was getting his adult coat so i just jumpstarted it, Bonnie |

| My pup was matted very badly at 3 months already.. And I couldn''t catch up untangling. They shaved his belly completely (thank God you couldn't see because they left his back, sides and chest a little longer) - and I don't mean 'chichuachua cut'. It was just bald. Poor thing was getting cold with 70 degrees weather. Well, it was 2.5 weeks ago and his hair's longer again, the belly hair at about half an inch. Helped a lot, now he doesn't even mat, just tangles a little, about 15-20 minute brushing every day is enough... Is your puppy badly matted all over?

| so here's the story....when i got my puppy he had very cottony hair and when i took him to get groomed at PETSMART (mistake) they said he needed to be shaved down because he was matted and it would hurt him too bad to get them out another way....so here he is now at 6 mos old and he has no hair on his body other than his face...this just happened a week ago...it seems to be growing back but i sure with it would grow faster....also, he's growing back all silver and losing all of his black that he had as a baby... |

| Yorkies generally change in color for some time, and that is normal...I am sure however, he was not so matted that he needed to be shaved...It has been my experience that if you comb daily and use a little detangler that if you do get a single matt it will be an easy one to work out, or one that a matt breaker rather than a razor can easily take care of. Sorry you had a bad grooming experience, but trust me I have had many and it takes time but does grow out.
