| Criptorchid ??? Does anybody know anything about this? My little boy went to the vet last week for his 6month check, and she told me that only was testicle had decended....he has been like that since 3months....also she said that he is very small for his age.. He had a bad fall at 9 weeks old, and almost dies, fell down the stairs and went into shock, i was wondering if that could have made him slow in any way.. I am very worried now, as i wanted to show little mac, and although size might be against him, i know that a criptorchid dog is only seen to be a bet and can lead to cancer.... Any advice?

| I have a dog that had the same problem...they told me one of his testicles were not desecnding and he had to be neutered or it could lead to cancer. We got him neutered..it cost a little more but i'm sure it was well worth it. |

| Oscar was a cryptorchid neuter as well - one of his testicles was hiding under his bladder. You'll definitely have to have your boy neutered - unfortunately you wouldn't be able to show him with only one descended testicle anyways. At 6mths, chances are if it hasn't descended yet, it probably isn't going to. I doubt that his fall had anything to do with any of this - he's probably just a little guy - he could also be a late bloomer - dogs have growth spurts at different ages and you may find he'll start to gain weight again in a couple months. Oscar was 2.8lbs at 7mths when he went in for his neuter (is now 3.5lbs at 11mths). The surgery is more expensive as it is a little more extensive (two incisions - one at the scrotum and one in his abdomen along his penis - and they have to basically 'hunt' for the hiding testicle). Oscar's neuter was just under $400 (but all vets are different). For health reasons it is definitely better to have him neutered. You can do a google search for more information, here is a link that I found: http://www.peteducation.com/article....&articleid=897 Hope this helps

| I had an Irish Setter who was a cryptoid. My husband (bf at the time) had this problem with uuuhhhh removing his "boy toys" so.... my vet removed the retained testicle and then did a vasectomy on the other one. LOL As far as I know, it was the ONLY vasectomy Doc ever did I might ad that was almost 30 years ago and hubby has since matured and changed his way of thinking |

| problem Have your boy neutered and the cancer risk will not happen...at 6 months it is very unlikely his other testicle will drop.. |
