| Leaving collars on I'm curious do you leave them on when you aren't home. I don't use a collar to attach a leash ,but for their tags. I always remove them in the house ,especially when I leave. A woman on another forum lost her furbaby when she let her outside in the backyard ,when she didn't return in 10 minutes or so she went to look for her and found her dead. She had got a stick wedge between her neck and collar. This has always stuck with me, so I'm really parnoid about it. |

| I haven't found a harness that I like well enough to leave on. What kind do you use? |

| I'm about to start leaving the harnesses on all day. Were going to be doing construction on our house and I am having NIGHTMARES about Kona and Bernie getting out without their tags on. I also have collars (I've never used them) to put the tags on, but after hearing about your friend I think I'll just leave the harness on.

| My furbabies don't wear collars of harnesses only when I take them for walks. My backyard is all fenced in and I watch them outside so i'm no worried about them getting lost. I recommend getting a harness if your using it to take her for walks because it doesn't put all the strain around the neck instead it pulls from the chest and underarms. |

| Mine dont wear their collars in the house. They only wear them if they are going to be shown off in public because I love their collars!! I like the "diamond" collars. Dawn |

| Mojo has a collar, but we only put it one when we go somewhere - it is more for looks and safety (it has his tags, etc on it) - but we don't leave it on and only put it on when we get ready to leave. We use a harness, but that is only when we take him somewhere or out to walk and play. They just seem that they would be uncomfortable to leave on all day...trying to lay and get comfy, etc....plus, we are home all day, so he goes without anything on. Sad story about the other Yorkie! I never leave Mojo outside (enclosed or not) by himself......I couldn't......I would be a nervous wreck! I freak out when I have to leave him at home to get groceries!!

| My pup wears his collar all the time. Occasionally - I take it off and put his harness on him when we go for a walk - because he pulls so hard (I need to train him to walk on a leash!) Otherwise - he wears his collar. We go out and around occasionally -and with company, etc., my doors get open and closed sometimes without my knowing it. **** I have never had any problem with any of my dog's wearing collars. And - I just am not a ease if he isn't wearing it - in case he ever gets loose. Carol Jean |

| I also keep a collar with tags on Joey at all times. I understand that there is some risk in it, but I personally consider it to be smaller than the risk of his getting lost.

| I know there are those breakaway collars, if they get snagged on something the dog can break it apart... On the other side, because it's easy to be broken apart, it's not as reliable as the regular ones, I think.. I'd only put collar with ID tags (that I don't have yet...) when outside on a walk etc.. planning to get one next weekend when Pepper can finally be outside after the last of his shot (yoohoo Can't wait, hope the weather'll be nice and we can go to the park for the day )
