looking hi, I live in california and am looking for a black/gold male yorkie preferably a toy size. I have had some trouble finding a good breeder in the area ( i am willing to travel some in state). I don't want to ship. If anyone knows of a breeder or could offer some advice it would be much appreciated. THANKS!

Try I have heard great things about Linda Bush in Buena Park, CA, I cannot think of the name of her website. She has been breeding for over twenty years here in CA and gave me some support when I purchased a very sick yorkie from another breeder. Darn, I wish I could think of the name of her website, I also looked at a yorkie site here in Anaheim today, small breeder of about 5 years. That web site is www.mypetyorkie.com, you could check out the references that they give. Good luck, stay away from puppy mills and brokers, I have had enough heartache from one here in SOCAL to last me forever. If you want the name of teh guy to stay away from, pm me.

opinion wanted I've found a local breeder with male pups 8wks old, ACA registered, and said they will be the 5-6lbs for $975. What does it mean that their ACA registered and not AKC? And does this sound like a good idea? I am going to look at the today.

ACA is one of the lesser known registries that you will see a lot in pet stores and commercial breeding establishments. It is American Canine Association, I think. All Yorkies are toys-they are classified as toys and shown as toys by AKC. You will need to do some research about the breed if you want to make an educated choice. The sex, size, quality, genetics, pedigree for health purposes of the ancestors, temperment, ears- up or is down okay and the conditions that they are prone to-hypoglycemia, lux. patella, heart problems, hydrocephaly, hip problems, and the forever feared LIVER SHUNT. Your breeder should know these things about the puppies she/he is selling and more..

I bought my yorkie from my cousin. She is a relatively new yorkie breeder. She just had her second litter this weekend. I don't know any details about the new puppies yet. She lives in the Chico area. Let me know if you might be interested and I will talk to her.
