| I always place an elastic band , not too tight from the head . The bow can wait a few days or weeks . The Yorkie most be use to have something on his or her head . I use the teeth of my comb between the head and the elastic band to measure if it is not too tight . |

| We're still learning...Lil Bit finally does have a wad of hair to grab and try to get "up"....For the past 2 weeks, after brushing/combing, I have placed the tiniest little "alligator clasp" in the wadded hair...just to get her used to something up there. She will immediately start trying to get it out...then I start "sit"....."stay"....cookie....cookie..play....play ....."sit"...cookie.... eventually she will forget and start playing around with Apple. But I have to watch her...she will eventually think about it and get it out and try to chew the darn thing. But she is getting better...Just not there yet! |

| I've always used those tiny rubber bands. They can't get them out!

| What do I do? I gave up! Well, kind of... I used to get really frustrated about the whole thing, but I decided she is cute with or whithout the topknot! So, it she leaves it in, great, and if she doesn't, it's fine with me too! I also use little rubberbands.

| I use the tiny rubber bands then a bow over that. It took Misti a while to get use to it too. She did the same thing and I just kept putting it back in over and over and over and now it doesn't bother her a bit. Don't give up. |

| I think the key is persistence if you want them to leave it alone. You just have to keep redoing it everyday til they get used to it. It also helps to do one little pony on the front forehaed, then braid some more in from further back and place a second band. My groomer taught me this and they still get it out eventually but it takes longer and much more effort! lol |

| I use those little metal barrettes that kinda bend backwards when you open them... I don't know what they are called. Anyway, I hae been putting them in Leila's hair since the day I got her practically so she would get used to something in her hair, and since the day I started, she has actively made it a point to take them out again!!! It's been a year and a half!!! I don't even bother with a true topknot. Gidget, on the other hand, leaves clippies and barrettes and rubber bands in her hair just fine. |

| Make sure u dont pull the hair too tight, i use tiny rubber bands for Chelsey and put a little girly clip through the hair thats held by the rubber band .... she keeps them in her hair fine and doesnt even try to get them out.
