| I just need to vent to other dog owners I live in a suburb that doesn't have to many parks that allow dogs. Which SUCKS! I went to a concert in the park a few weeks ago and brought my dogs and had to leave in the middle of it because I was told no dogs allowed. Of course the way we came into the park, we didn't see a sign. This weekend I went to my daughter's lacrosse game with the dogs and a spectator who's daughter was on my daughter's team said, "No dogs allowed in this park, didn't you see the sign? There were dogs everywhere the game before hers. I hate the fact these parks don't allow dogs. Don't you think a park is supposed to be where you can take your dogs? I can understand if they were not on a leash, but my two were and they never pooped or pee'd anywhere. They were very well behaved and people just loved to come and pet them. Okay I vented. Thanks for letting me get this out of my system!

| I know what you need, there are no parks here either for pups.... it is really sad when there is nowhere to bring your babies! BUT we have to remember that it all goes back to pet owners who do not care properly for their pets AND cleanup after them.

| I agree. I think the outside was designed for dogs. i understand rules about keeping them on a leash, picking up after your dog, but not to allow them in a park.........thats crazy. Hope all is going well with Shylah and Starskie. How big is she now?

| Unfortunately, irresponsible people who don't clean up after their dogs or keep them on leashes have ruined it for those of us who can be considerate of others and just want a place to take our dogs so they can enjoy being outdoors. There are so many parks that don't allow dogs anymore. Parks are a great place for dogs and their owners to walk and get exercise. It's a shame. |

| Hmmm... That's odd. I see you live in CO.... My younger brother moved to CO about a year ago and from what he's told me, it's a lot more dog friendly than our home state of WI... He said you guys have "Small Dog Wind Warnings". I can't decide if he's joking or not... is that true?! I pulled this link from the Colorado State Parks website. It's the 2006 State Parks Regulations. Under Animals/Pets on page 4 it says: "To allow any dog or other pet on Parks and Outdoor Recreation Lands, unless the same shall be under control and on a leash not exceeding six (6) feet in length. This requirement for dogs or other pets to be on a six foot leash shall not apply when the animal is confined in a vehicle or vessel. Further, it shall be unlawful to allow a dog or other pet within any area used as a bathing or water-ski beach. Any person having a dog or other pet creating a nueisance or disturbance who fails to properly control a dog or other pet may be evicted from the park or reacreation area. This provision shall not apply to dogs while being used in hunting, field trials or while being trained on lands open to such use." See: http://parks.state.co.us/images/cont...gs20061871.pdf Throughout the document it lists a few parks where dogs are not allowed at all or are only allowed in certain areas... Were you at one of these parks? Based on this I would think your pup is allowed in (certain areas of certain) parks... Maybe try getting a hold of the parks division and see what they have to say about it. If they it's okay... Maybe print this out and show it to anyone (along with a copy of the email from someone working in the parks division, if you decide to contact them) that your dog is indeed allowed there! | A friend of mine had a similar problem and came up with a solution. Put them in one of the doggie strollers. She was walking on the boardwalk and she was stopped by a cop and he said no dogs allowed on the boardwalk and her fight was they were in a stroller and he shook his head and said I cant argue with that. They are in the stroller they cant poop and pee anywhere because they are confined.

| i agree, as long as the dog is well-behaved and on a leash, whats the problem? i mean its different if they were running wild or barking like crazy, but if they are harmlessly just walking on their leash, whats the big deal?

| I take my dogs to my son's college baseball games and I'm not sure they're really allowed there. I have a stroller so if it's really an issue they could stay in it but no one has ever said anything to me except my son whose embarrassed by the stroller! To the woman who told you no dogs allowed in the park, my response to her would have been "what are you the dog police?" If you're bringing small dogs and you're leashing (or carrying in a carrier) and curbing them, why does she feel the need to admonish you?

| It stinks, I agree, but at the same time, I don't agree with the rules themselves. For "us"--and by us I mean, those who control their disease-free, well behaved, non-dangerous dogs- it is unfortunate and crappy. But there are dog owners out there that are not like "us." People with larger breeds--Pits, Rots, etc, that DON'T properly car for their animals that are dangerous in the wrong situation. And people who don't put leashes on. Unfortunately, there is no way to effectively regulate it and no way to draw the line. I know that if I were in a park, with my child, dog, etc, and someone was there with a pit, that they couldn't control, etc...I would naturally be a little wary. |
