| suggestions? next friday i'm bringing my little girl home i cant wait!! so i'm trying 2 prepare 4 her as much as possible. the thing is i go 2 school during the day. what i plan on doing is getting an x-pen and putting her crate in there with her food, some toys, and a pee pad. but we have rugs on our floors so i was wondering if i should have a diaper on her while i'm gone? and if so, how do those work? i originally planned on getting a boy so i did a lot of research on belly bands, are they basically the same? do you thing the x-pen is a good idea, or what would you suggest? this is my first yorkie so i'm not sure on everything. thanks in advance!! |

| I would say the xpen is a great idea...I can't answer you though about the diapers....Lady was crate trained and I do work full time....but I was able to get home everyday for lunch to let her out and then a few hours later my bf would let her out when he came home...if you work with her with the weewee pads and have the xpen Im sure you'oll be ok |

| I think she would chew the diaper off. How long are you gone? If it isn't for too long you might just want to try the crate alone, and be sure to tire her out before you leave. But if is more than just a couple of hours I would not make her stay in a crate. I'd do the x pen, but still make sure she is worn out before you leave. You could buy a small piece of vinyl flooring to put under the x pen, or maybe a tarp of some sort. but she might tear the tarp |

| I think the expen is a great idea. Since you have carpeting, you could get a piece of linoleum or something to put down under it. Something that would be easy to clean in case she misses the pee pad would work, and it wouldn't damage the carpeting. Make sure to put lots of toys and a couple blankets on the one side, along with her food and water. Then, line the other side with a couple pee pads. You might also want to leave a flossie or bully stick for her to chew on. Another thing you might try is a puppy kong. Some puppies love those, and it keeps them busy for long periods of time. I put a little peanut butter in it and around the outside and freeze it. It works great for teething. |

| Forgot to mention about the diapers. She might just chew those off. I had a dog once that we used diapers on when she was in heat, and she would chew them right off. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I wouldn't leave a diaper on her while your gone. I put Cali in a playpen with her bedding at one end and the pee pad at the other. SHe never soiled her bedding and used her pee pads. I would try and put like a vinyl table cloth and then the bedding and pee pad. Is this the 7 week old? Is someone going to be able to check on her during the day? Can't wait to see pictures!!!

| I agree with the x pen. Also, a piece of tarp underneath would work.

| Patti had a really good - inexpensive - way to protect your carpets. A large vinyl tablecloth would work great. I've even heard people cut up a large garbage bag so that it lays out flat and tape it down to the carpet. At least with a girl you know she'll squat!
