| Will mating change behavior??? I have a question that has been worrying me....I have a female and male yorkie....the little boy was a rescue who has come a long way to becoming a happy little boy. As you can imagine the girl is the number one reason for his amazing recovery into being a normal little dog....he ADORES her and she loves him....they constantly play,,,eat out of the same bowls...share toys, beds EVERYTHING....he can't be apart from her for to long because he gets worried and starts crying....They are the best of friends and LOVE each other....however, she is the dominant one in their relationship...she is in control... my worry is this....The female is spayed and we would love to mate the boy with another female so we can have a puppy from him (he is adorable) my worry is ....if I mate him with another female will his dependency and love towards my little girl diminish? at the moment she is his world...will introducing a female to him to mate ruin this bond? I know this may sound crazy...but their relationship is so special I don't want to do anything to jepordize it. Thanks, Yaremis |

| does he have papers do you know if he has any genetic problems he could pass on? why not just buy a puppy instead of breeding a rescue dog not trying to be hateful but if he's a rescue you don't know his history. |

| The only experience I've had with this was with my toy poodle. He was studded out once and produced a beautiful batch of roly poly babies. His demeanor in no way changed (he was always such a laid back calm little boy) but he started marking in the house so bad we had to start crating him when we were away from the house. Until then he had always had run of the house with a doggie door to the back yard. And let me tell you, in our experience, for some reason that urine smelled worse than before. He never did get over the marking thing and that's one of the issues I've read about a lot since then.

| How did you get an intact rescue male? Rescues usually spay or neuter before adopting out. Like someone else said why not buy another instead of mating yours. Do you have this dogs background info? Has he been cleared of any disease that he could pass on such as livershunt or Luxating pattella? Does he fit the breed standard? I would just think long and hard before you do this. So many what ifs..

| It's kinda hard to answer that question, but you can try as see what happens. I don't think it will change but then again no one can assure you that. Good luck and pray for the better!
