| need help deciding on which girl: HEllo all YT members! I have not posted to this site very much but i lurk and read all the time. I respect you guys opinions on things relating to Yorkies so here is my question: I have been looking for my special girl for quite some time (since DEc) and I am about ready to make a decision and welcome a special pup into my home. I have narrowed things down to one breeder/broker and I would like some opinions on her dogs. her site is yorkieluv.com , she is Kim and she seems really nice and her dogs are beautiful. She currently has three I like, Molly, SIssi, and Cleopatra. They are all pretty but somewhat expensive. I think two have Champion lines . two are from HUNGARY and therefore have their tails long and still have dew claws. my purpose for owning a yorkie is to love and adore her, not show. but I want a somewhat small dog, not the wierd teapcup size , but 4 lbs or so, healthy. Also, does anyone know what show dogs cost? I think she has a couple who are good enough to show but are too small. Any opinions/thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks. Denise |

| Thanks for responding Chachi, HER wEB SITE IS www.yorkieluv.com. I saw her ads on nextdag pets. She didn't have the ones i like on there. I know her dogs are expensive, but haven't found any that looked as good. I figured we wound allow her to have a litter if the vet deems it safe and sell pups to make up for exorbinant cost. It is just so hard to tell what a dog will turn out to be when you buy at 10-12 weeks, so I like the older ones because they are looking their adult profiles. WE have an excellent vet who feels comforable taking a small female to term preg and doing csection (at least 4 lbs tho, bred to smallest male you can find). I know a 2 1/2 lb male, akc. If anyone has any ideas where to find a beautiful baby not so expensive, I am game, but Kim has the best looking dogs I have seen on internet. |

| a 4lb female generally is considered a "teacup" and is TOO SMALL TO BREED regardless of how small the male is.

| Don't even buy a dog if you think that will help make up for the initial cost of having her. I hope some of those that breed will tell you just how expensive it is. Yorkies don't have litters of 8 that you can sell for whatever amount. It might cost you more that you bargained for if your dog needs a C section or doesn't feed them properly herself. Having puppies is risky and you could lose her altogether especially if you don't know what you're doing. If you breed, you'd better be prepared to have a lot of sleepness nights if you do have to feed them. A woman on another group had to feed all 3 puppies herself since birth since their mother got sick and her milk was bad. Luckily she didn't work outside the home and could do this. She also had to stimulate them to go to the bathroom since that is what their mother does. Are you up to that? Then after caring for them you get so attached. Could you give them up? Anyone with a conscience is going to want to find the very best homes for their puppies and that might not be so easy. My yorkie was only $800 and she is tiny. She weighs three pounds and is very healthy. I never planned to breed her and had her spayed at 6 months. It takes her almost 6 months to go through a small bag of dog food and she's a lot less expensive to maintain than our fish tank with a turtle in it. She also brings me a lot of joy. My advice is to look for a happy healthy puppy in the price range that you can afford. Don't look at it as in investment that you are trying to recoup. |

There is no way my 4 lb baby will fit in a teacup, she doesn't even fit in a coffee cup. Carol Minnie | |

I am not good in looking up dogs but if I was I would help you!!! |

| Cute dogs, but nope, not that cute. And I don't understand....she breeds them herself, or imports them from Hungary? Please don't pay that much. It's not worth it.

| I got Debbie through an ad in the newspaper. I didn't even know about yorkie discussion groups at the time. I know it's not the most recommended way but if you know what to look for in a puppy, I don't think it's as risky. If you just go in there not knowing anything about the standard and how a puppy should look at a certain age you could get taken advantage of but it looks like you've been doing some research. I would never buy a puppy without seeing it first. It's too easy for someone to ship you a different puppy. I also wouldn't want to subject a little animal to that plane ride all by itself in a carrier. I know plenty of people do it but I don't think it's a good idea. |

They don't call them teacups because they will actually fit in one - it's just a cute name for a smaller dog - same as people calling their bigger yorkies "teapots" - they won't actually fit in a teapot either will they? 4lbs and under is considered "teacup" - USUALLY. My point was that breeding a 4lb female is not safe - and many threads on here have discussed this very thing.

| If you aren't going to show or breed I wouldn't spend over 1200 for a female yorkie....and 2 to 3lbs is soooo little...Good Luck finding the one for you....
