| Ugggh...petstore putdowns! I took Darla and Reece to Petsmart tonight for some goodies and of course everyone wants to see Reece because he is small and cute. I love all the comments but when they see Darla (who was the centre of attention at the pet stores before Reece came along) they say "what is she??" or "she has yorkie in her??" Then people say will Reece stay this size?? I say Im not sure, and he will probably be around Darlas size and they are like "oh really??" like they are disappointed..........mind you Darla is less than four pounds and as cute as HELL!! Or people would say "oh your cute too" to Darla...but you can tell it was a symathy comment. A nice older gentleman came over with his 14 week pup and said "this is my yorkie" it was pretty obvious it wasnt a purebred (looked more like a dashound and probably over 10 pounds) but his pup was SWEET and he was convinced it was purebred...but people were like "no way!! your dog is NOT purebred" poor man..who cares??? This is the first time I wanted to walk out of a petstore!! I told Darla the whole way home she is the prettiest girl on earth lol...ALL dogs are beautiful imo...I hate that people who have dogs feel they are experts and need to share what they THINK they know!! I pet all the dogs I come across in the petstores and give each one special attention, not just the puppies or the small breeds...dont ask me why im so offended...I just am lol... |

| I know what you mean about "older sibling" syndrome with strangers! Poor Dougal used to get all the comments - now it's more like "what happened to him!?" Just cos he's a little big for a yorkie ~~ A mere 14lbs! LOL! But he's such a smooch anyone who tries to pat Dixie has to love on the Dougal first!! LOL!

| I just saw of your other threads about Reese having diarrhea, maybe it was the Petsmart goodies? Anyway, at 10 weeks, he is really too young to be going to Petsmart. Wait until he at least has all of his parvo vaccines 16 or 20 weeks. You've heard never put your dog down anywhere in a vet's office because of health risks and their offices are sterilized (and made for complete sterilization) at least once a day. Hundreds of dogs walk through a Petsmart and although I do believe they try to keep the floors sanitized. I know they don't sanitize the carts and can't sanitize the whole store. Many Yters take their dogs, so if you feel good about it take Darla and let her have all the attention, but leave the puppy at home at least for now. |

| Both of your furbabies are beautiful and very special. I know what you mean about other people's comments. Oliver is 14.5 lbs, and everytime we go to petsmart, or anywhere else for that matter, someone always has to comment. Usually, the first thing they say is..."is that a yorkie?", and of course I say yes. Then, the next comment usually is, "OMG-he's soooo big for a yorkie." At which point I would ask them if they own one, and of course they don't. Then I would say that yorkies come in all different sizes, and that they are all beautiful, no matter what. I would end up being so upset by the time I got away from that person, that now, I've learned to ignore the ignorant comments. Otherwise, I'd probably be upset all the time! My Oliver is what he is, and I love him to death. He's such a cutie-pie, and a such a little love! So....what I'm driving at is... you're babies are what they are, and you should ignore these people who have nothing better to do than criticize what they know nothing about. Don't bother to waste your energy. Your babies are gorgeous, and you love them, and they love you!

Just wanted to mention that the diareah incident happened long before we went to Petsmart...it happened when we were gone to our lawyers office. I work at home and dont leave him too often and he was in the kitchen for about an hour and we came home to that mess. Dawn | |
