Before you jump to any conclustions, read the entire book and then put everything into perspective. Remember, much of what he discusses involves PROBLEM DOGS, many of them rescued one step away from euthanisa because of aggression. If you and your Yorkie kid are happy with your relationship, then I wouldn't try to change anything. If you want to better your relationship then start simple and slow -- like try the more exercise part. Many of our yorkies problems are due to lack of proper outlets for their energy. Our babies are very intelligent high energy and need LOTS of "human directed" exercise. I noticed a ton of difference in my gang whenI started walking them with ME as pack leader out in front.

| I never read the book but I watch the TV shows like a fanatic... . He always says 'discipline and rules before affection' and to show affection when they're in submissive mood. Well, I don't really follow thru though LOL.. Pepper's a puppy, I choose to spoil him all the time LOL

When I first started reading the book, I hated what he was saying because it seems like he says to not give any affection to our little ones. Also, what he was saying almost made it feel like you are not suppose to have fun with a dog. My favorite part of having a dog is the affection and how her tail wags when I get home. When I kept reading I realized that is not what he is saying. Later he explains that people give affection at the wrong time. Like chattiesmom said, read the whole thing and only follow the parts you think will benefit you. ps his advice on taking walks is really working for us too. Now Rosie doesn't demand our attention all the time and I can actually come on YT without her barking at me to play.

Caesar never said that giving a dog affection is wrong -- read again! He believes wholeheartedly in exercise, discipline, and affection. I see him pet, hug, and kiss his dogs all the time. He does say that affection should be given our dogs are "being good." Not when they are misbehaving --- I read a lot of posts that misquote Caesar.... or only pick up part of what he is doing or trying to say. PS: I have the same book. Carol Jean

Watch his DVD! I think if you watch his DVD. you will probably understand his "Concept" more? His TV. Series is very different from both the Book & DVD. You just have to adjust his "Techniques" to fit a Yorkie, but they do work!
