| Yorkie coat/color My Gus is 4 1/2 months old and his adult coat has started growing out on his head, legs, feet, etc. However, all of his hair on his back and the majority of his body is still that jet black puppy coat with NO color change at the root area. When will that portion of his adult coat start to grow in? Since he hasn't had a change in that part of his coat, does that mean he is going to be black as an adult??? I can see the change in color on his head, muzzle, legs, and feet when I look at the roots and some of the hair is so long now that just the tips are the old color of tan or black! Just curious! Any help would be appreciated! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Cali is 14 months old and still very black on her body. I do see a few silver/white hairs starting to come in. Her father was very dark but not totally black. Cali leans to a more cottony coat unfortunately.

| My 7 1/2 mth olds back is just starting to turn to silver. The silver roots are only about a 1/2 inch long now and just down the middle of his back. His coloring on his legs and head turned much earlier so your pup's back will still probably change color. |

My furkids Donating Member | Sadie (2 1/2 yrs old) never changed to blue/silver on her back. she has a very pretty gold/tan face and legs..Lillies, 12 wks old, face has gold/tan in it and her had silver roots when we got her at 8 wks. I am not seeing any color change in her back yet..but, as I read here it can take a while for their back color to come in...I'm not sure but, I think they can change up to a yr...correct me if I'm wrong YTer's.

| I am so curious about this too. Cole is almost 1 1/2 yrs and he has a few silver hairs on his head but thats it. His body is still black with no sign of a change in color. I assume he will stay dark. |

| grrr... I wish that mine stayed black! I loved his puppy coat, but due to some mats and a couple of fleas (from the breeder... ) he had to be shaved Now he is this gorgous blue color with a silver/white face and legs. It is beautiful, but I want my puppy coat back Ohh ohhh, does anyone know if the coat will fluff like the puppy coat did, or if it will just lay flat? The breeder said that he has a "cotton" coat. |
