| Grey hair on the head?? My pup has really nice black thick coat. But the top of his head is getting more and more grey hairs (I wished I could call it silver -sigh-). What's going on?? Is he starting to change his colors? I was kinda hoping he'd stay dark... And my hubby's laughing we got an old dog (not funny...). J.J just turned 3 months old (13 weeks).

| That's what Roxy's hair did. Her parents are silver, and we were told she would be, too. There's a little silver starting to creep into the hair on her back. She is 6 mo. old.

| If the change is just on the top of the head, its possible your baby will stay darker on the back. With my dogs, alot of their heads turn very silver/grey and that turns to a light tan as an adult with the muzzle being golden. Its a small picture, but if you look at my avator his lil guy had a completely silver head and it is changing to tan now. His back hasnt had much of a change yet at 8 months old. | If you look at the smiley picture of Georgie in my avatar he turned greyish/silver on his head quick, tan on his chest and his body is still black. Georgie is 14 months old. My brother says Georgie looks like a Yak I just tell him he is the cutest and sweetest Yak I have ever seen

| Mimi was really dark when I brought her home and she had a white spot on the top of her head which made her look bald. Now she is really light. She has more of the blue color on body and her head is white/silver. The other day I was looking at her hair and noticed that the white/silver on her head is truning gold.... Here are two pics to show you the change... 1. First day she came home 2. This past Sunday |

| i've got an old lady too My girl Rylie is 8 months old next week and she went through the exact same thing, my boyfriend made fun of her and use to call her an old lady when she was still only4 months old, cuz her hair on her head was turning grey. He still calls her an old lady and her hair on her head is still light but the rest of her body has pretty much remained the same, she is getting little streaks for silver down the spine of her back and other few spots but is mainly very dark. I've added some pics so you can see her hair change, there a little out of order 1. When she was about 3 1/2 months old. 2. Was taken this past August. 3. Was taken in June 4. Was taken in July... you can really see how light her head is in this one. I still have no idea what colour she will end up once she's older.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Peeka and Boo are 4 months old today and both of them are gray/silver on top they are now starting to have the tan come in underneath but it's slow going. Peeka also has a lighter color coming in on his back not so silver but light his mom was a darker silver on her back tan on head and the dad was tan on head and black or dark steel blue on back so we don't know what color they will be but i guess the changing to silver is normal.

| My 8-week old pup had a lot of "almost white" hair on the top of his head also. In fact, because it looked as though you were looking at his scalp - it made him look almost a little "bald." At the same time (8 weeks) - if I examined the hair on his body - I could see about 1/4 inch of the same "almost white hair" coming in all over. Well - the hair on his head soon turned a beautiful golden tan and the hair on his body has become a black/siver mix. I keep my little pup cut very short - so his new true colors were totally apparent by the time he was only a few months old. (All of his darker puppy hair had been trimmed off and was long gone.) | My toy poodle was jet black..........throughout the years she has become grayish (I just say she is getting old....hehe). Her mom was silver and dad was black so that must be it. |

| Glad to hear Joey isn't the only one. When we brought him home he was all black and tan. Now my neighbor teases me and asks if I bleach his hair! |

| When I got Scampers at 3 months old he had a little dot of gray in his hair. Through the months the gray grew to where his whole head was grey. Now at 9 months old his head is coming in gold. If I cut his hair, you would see an all gold head. But I can't bring myself to do it just yet. I am waiting for his hair to get longer so that when I do cut it, I can still put it up in a topknot. So for the time being he has a multicolored head. Black at the tips, which was his baby hair, grey/silver in between and gold at the roots. Here is a picture of him and you should be able to see what I am talking about. The first picture was taken several months ago and the second picture was taken a couple months ago. The second picture is not a good picture of him, he looks really weird and big in it, but you can see how his head is more gold. Of course you can also see all three colors. I need to get some more recent pictures of him because now you can really see the gold.

| my two when we first got Bubba he at 4mos he was dark and began to to lighten. The roots on his head turned white (oh my god, this isn't a yorkie=somebody dyed him) a patch on his head turned white then the roots again began to change. Now at 20mos the hair on his head is a beautiful dark gold color and his body is steel. Sissy's color on her head is more of a tan and has lightened a little with steel on her body. Other than size it would be difficult to tell them apart but now at a year Sissy's ears have decided to be up more than down-well actually one is up and the other is a sometimes ear. |
