| Neutered, now constipated Buddy was neutered yesterday. He pooped the night before, but did not go before I took him in yesterday morning. When I picked him up I asked if he had gone and the answer was no. He ate last night and again this morning, but still no poopy. So, it has been about 40 hours since he last went. Any advice? Has this happened to anyone else. If so, what did you do about it? Thanks |

| Its common for them to get constipated after a surgery. I just let Chachis work out on its own but you can give olive oil or canned pumpkin for it

| A little bit of raw carrot works well for Joey. And yes, it is common for anesthesia to cause constipation.

| It's normal not to have a bowel movement after surgery - sometimes it takes up to 4 days. Since he's eating so well, I would give canned pumpkin (fiber) (without all the spices) to get things moving. |

| Yay!! He did a small "job" late this afternoon. I feel so much better. I never dreamed I would stress over a dog's bm's. Lol. He is feeling great tonight. Chasing cats and running around like crazy. This surgery went SO well. I am glad it is over. Thanks for your responses. This is the BEST site!!! You are worried and ask a question, and within minutes, you have good answers and solutions. You are all great!!!! |
