| just looking to vet!! Is there anyone else out there who is constantly defending their Yorkie when they have a sweater on??? On any given day layla does not wear clothes.. but today was very windy and cold here.. so to go for a walk.. she had to wear a sweater (otherwise she woudl have stood there shaking.. looking at me like.. come on mom. you have one on!) well the looks we got! i feel like stopping these people and saying.. look you have a jacket on because it is cold out.. why can't she have one on! WE know that Yorkies aren't able to maintain their body heat very well..a nd you would THINK just by looking at her size people could figure that out! Latlely i am also definding the clip in her hair.. which has its main purpose of keeping her hair out of her eyes.. and plus she looks friggin cute! Maybe i take the remarks and glares too seriously.. but i feel that if people just understood that it is necissity rather than fashion.. they would understand *sigh* ok i'm done |

| Buddy always wears a fleecey jumper or a jacket in the winter, i agree i think people look and think 'its only a dog' it shouldnt wear clothes but Buddys the same, he really feels the cold, you know when their little back legs shake... awwwww He' has to go 'manly' though with football jackets or camouflage or my hubby wont take him out I'd ignore the stares they may just be looking cos she looks sooooo cute!

| Don't you worry about what other people think. Our little furbabies need to stay warm too! When the weather changes, Oliver always has his sweater or sweatshirt on. And, in the winter, which can be brutally cold here in New York, you'll always see him in his hooded parker! He'd have boots on too, only he pulls them off, lol! Anyway, people can be ignorant sometimes. Just ignore them. We know what's best for our babies! And, they really do look cute, don't they!

| Quote "..........Maybe i take the remarks and glares too seriously.......... You probably do. If it really is cold out and your little dog would be more comfortable with a sweater or something on..... then he should wear something. Probably some of the looks that appear to be "glares" -- aren't even that. **** It is true we all hate to see little dogs dressed up for fashion -- when it's 90 degrees outside. Don't pay any attention -- just enjoy your cute little dog! I keep asking why Yorkie owners are soooooooooooooo sensitive about every look, stare, and remark they get. Let's just enjoy our dogs! Everyone else enjoys theirs. Carol Jean |

| I think Yorkie owners are so much more sensitive because people like "big" dogs... my mom says Layla is hardly a dog.. lol. she says it with love but you woudldn't dare see someone make a comment about a great dane but it's almost because our dogs are so small it's ok to make "funny"remarks.. i'm a new Yorkie owner so i'm gonna try and get tougher i also live in a small city.. in places like NYC (visited this past may... LOVED IT!! can't wait to go back) there are stores just for dog clothes.. here in Sault STe marie.. lol.. not so much! |

| Yeah I know what you mean. Even my family members think I go overboard with Bentley. I saw a cute shirt for a yorkie that said "your only staring because your jealous." You should get that! Bentley wears clothes in the winter (when we have a winter, last December it was 70 outside). As a matter of fact I just bought him the CUTEST Christmas sweater from Tinkerbells, I ALWAYS take him trick or treating fully costumed with my son and I'm planning on buying him something cute to wear for Thanksgiving. Enjoy your yorkie while you can. The years fly by all too quickly.

| To top off the single coat that these little guys have they have hardly any hair on their under side! Chewy has a short cut on his belly to keep him clean. It is still summer here and he was shivering today... Big dogs are not as close to the cold ground either! Who cares what people think! I learned when my kids were young that I couldn't worry about what people think... I had to deal with how I thought my kids should be raised! Same goes for Chewy! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | don't sweat it - back like 100 years ago when I was little - my grandma had a poodle that we babysit alot and HAD to walk. My brother and I would alternate walking her - and my grandma always reminded us to MAKE SURE she wore her coat so of course we did. Here I was about 10 or 11 years old....walking this little sissy dog that's wearing a coat ....and hoping none of my friends would see me LOL !! I probably gave her the fastest walks she probably ever had - People are either going to fall over themselves seeing such a cute doggie all dressed up or they're going to think you're nuts. Let them - who cares ? |

| I am always getting crap from my family about Sissy's clothes. Now, granted she does have a closet full, but most of them are harness vests, harness dresses or just harnesses. That is all I will use when I take her for a walk or when she is in the car with me to strap into her car seat. I get crap for the car seat, too!! I really think people who are used to big dogs are very ignorant when it comes to the care of a small dog. They get cold easily and the car seat and harnesses are for their safety. Some people just don't understand!! Of course, I have a couple dresses and T-shirts that I bought just cause they were so darn cute. Sissy loves to wear clothes and the hair clips are a necessity not only for cuteness, but to keep the hair out of her eyes!!

| I have one who goes nekkid year round and one who has to wear something for protection, even in the summer months. Gage has absolutely no undercoat and barely has any hair whatsoever on his back and towards his hind legs. Through various tests at the vet, no explaination can be found so, per vet instructions, Gage either has to wear sunscreen when he goes out or a light weight t-shirt during the summer and something heavier and warmer when it's cold outside. As others have said, those who stare are either adoring our precious babies or wondering if we lost our minds. Well, of course we've lost our minds over these babies!! Keep putting the sweaters and coats on
