| Mountain Goat Yorkies!!! Anybody else have a yorkie who thinks it's a MOUNTAIN GOAT I CAN"T keep my pearl from climbing and jumping off things. i think she is a true daredevil at heart. She climbs up to anything she can... Sofa's dressers EVERYTHING... Then takes a leap and JUMPS OFF . I might add Pearl is only 2 1/2 pounds and very very small boned and I have NO IDEA why she hasn't broken any bones yet . I'm CONSTANTLY getting her down and trying to rearrangethings so she can't get up. I'ts INSANE. Yesterday my back was turned and I felt something whoosh past my leg and give a thump when it hit the ground...it was PEARL jumping off my highboy dresser that was 5 freaking ft. in the air and landing on the hardwood floor. She just landed and kept going with a run as I chased her I swear that dog is a dang MOUNTAIN GOAT. She went from a chair to leaping straight up about another 3 feet to the top of the high boy. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SHE COULD!!!!!!! 3 days ago I caught her playing the piano by walking across the keys I still have NO IDEA how she go there because I removed the bench months ago when she was using that to get up there and have no idea how she got up on the keys. Nobody else was home so I KNOW nobody helped her up.

| Oh My! You are very fortunate that she hasn't broken a leg or worse. I hope that you can find a way to keep her from climbing before she hurts herself. Good Luck! |

| Wow, that is scary. You have a real daredevil there. Ollie has learned how to get onto the kitchen table, but she doesn't jump off. S now we have to make sure the chairs are all pushed in. |

I KNow I know.... I keep picturing fractured legs and broken ribs and all kinds of things. She DOESN"T care how high it is.. she JUMPS What I can't believe is how high she gets in the first place. I keep getting her down from places you can't even imagine she would get to I can get her down and set her down and then wham... she is right back there before I can even blink an eye. And I just stand there scratching my head because she did it so fast without me seeing

| OMGness... That would totally freak me out!!! The possibility of her breaking a limb far out weighs the humor of the situation. Sorry I can't offer any suggestions...Especially since I have one hybrid myself! He absolutely refuses to walk down an entire flight of steps. He gets down to the last four or five and just takes to the air!!! And, I've done every thing imaginable to try and stop him...Even spent well over $300 in x-ray bills checking for broken limbs as a result of his attempts at flying! The Vet just laughs, shakes her head and says something relative to "good growth plates" I'd certainly would like to see what others offer as suggestions. GOOD LUCK with your little lady! |

| Sorry, I have no advice to offer. Sissy can only jump on the sofa, the back of the sofa, and chairs, but she will then climb onto the tables. She also takes flying leaps off everything. We have always called her a Mountain Goat for climbing to the back of sofas. She even tries to climb up to the back of the office chair when I'm on the computer!! She is also known as a Flying Squirrel for the leaps she takes. She gets such huge air and quite a distance for her tiny frame. She is 4 lbs, but looks like a 2 1/2 pounder size-wize. We have tried to discourage her from jumping down, with little success. I also worry all the time about her breaking her legs or falling on her head. Luckily she is only jumping down from lower surfaces. Our bed is pretty high and she can only get up there if lifted onto it, but she'll fly off that too - that is the one that really freaks me out. Good luck to you and your baby. I'm not sure how that little daredevil is getting to all those high places, but may God continue to be with her!

| I am sooo glad you posted about Pearl. I have exactly the same problem ! Piccolo, though, is 3 1/2 pounds but still I think he's small. He climbs EVERYTHING like a cat or a monkey. Yesterday in a park a women just fell in love with him and she picked him up ( after asking my permission) and before I could tell her to hold him tight - he just jumped down. And the women was at least 6 feet high. We both screamed and Piccolo climbed on a picnic table and jumped down again over the bench. That was the end of our walk and when we came home I put him on a leash which I tied around my waist. I can't risk any more leaping or flying...He has no fright of hights and beeing 8 months old he should know better, lol...And i am going to keep him on a leash for a while hoping he'll grow up of it.

| All 3 of mine are climbers but only Spike is a jumper. He's 5 lbs so its not as scary as Pearl but I still don't like it. I always say he thinks he's a flying squirrel because he can't just jump down from something, he has to jump way out too. Good luck with your little Pearl. Sounds like her bones are made of rubber.

| Buddy is a jumper but he is 13.7lbs. I worry about his legs but there is no holding him down. I had no idea these furbabies could jump so high. When he was 4months I had a baby gate up across the kitchen. When I came home he was on the other side. I then had to use two gates! One on top of the other. Your baby is really tiny. I don't know how to stop them. I wish I could help you. How do you hold a monkey down? |
