| Finally.... have my little baby with me After visiting a few breeders yesterday, I finally fell in love with a little guy. I'm going to take him to the vet tomorrow, but for now...Wow, I've been browsing YorkieTalk for a while now and thought I know A LOT. But when I'm looking at my puppy, I realize I know next to nothing.LOL>Everyone ever felt the same? He seems so fragile and small, looks so lost in the apartment. He's a happy pup though, very curious and playful, and a funny one too . I love him already and want all the best for him. I'm scared that he won't eat, I tried dry food last night (the one from the breeder)- no interest. He went to bed around midnight, woke up around 3, then 6, then 9. Everytime I took him out of his crate, played a little, tried to feed him, he was drinking water only. He took a few bites of the canned food, and a few bites of Snausage. I'm scared he's not eating enough- is it too early to tell? Should I get Caro Syrup and give him a little every now and then? Or Nutri Cal? He's small, will be around 4 lbs grown. Thanks for any advice! |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | You need to get some nutrical and you can give it to him every few hours when they first come home they don't eat a lot due to stress just keep an eye on him. congrats on your new baby!

| OH WOW! Congrats! I just picked up my little guys yesterday too! I took him straight to the vet, who told me several things that contradicted with what many others said. She told me not to give him nutri-cal. She also told me to only give him kibbles as a snack(1/4 cup) ands give him Science diet canned food 4-5 times a day as his meals. The breeder told me to put honey in his water to keep his sugar up, but the vet told me to get the Karo syrup instead. I don't totally trust what she said about the food because I've heard so many bad things happening when a puppy only eats can food so I mixed in the Eukanuba (that's what the breeder fed him) and some water, and he ate really well. He was a little shy at first but now he's jumping around everywhere playing. I totally understand your concern because my guy is only 6 weeks so I was really scared but he's doing great. This food formula is working well for me. |

| Congrats to you too! I have the same Eukanuba dry food brand. Plus, the breeder gave me another dry food in case the little guy is picky.Well, he is, that's why I mixed them both and, in the morning, I added canned food, which I fed him out of my hand.lol. so cute. He played quite a bit and explored the whole apartment. I'm not going to take him out yet, maybe it'll be a little too much stress, plus, it's going to be almost 100 degrees in NY... Keep me posted how your little babes are doing. I haven't picked the name yet, thinking of Romeo. Or Caramel, since he's such a sweetie |

| I got mine Friday, and she didnt eat a bite till late Saturday evening but she did drink a good bit of water. But I added just a drop or two of honey in her water the last time. But when she started eating, she ate good. Shes a fat little booger. I had some corn syrup and I thought it was karo syrup, but I bought the corn syrup accidentally I guess thinking I had karo. Any way, I knew honey would be ok. What is corn syrup anyway and is it about the same thing as karo or does anyone know?

| Keep in mind that their little tummy won't hold too much. I think that at 6 months old Reuger only ate maybe a half a cup a day. He eats a little more than that now. I don't remember how much he ate when I brought him home but it wasn't very much.
