| Question about a male puppy I have a chance to get a 13 week male morkie, free with all shots he weighs 3lb 7 oz now.He is 3/4 yorkiie. I have two females right now Taffy a Yorkie mix she is not been spayed and Baby a Bassett mix she has been spayed. My husband is already saying NO!!!!!!!!!. I was wanting to know if I get the male neutered before 6 months will he still mark his territory? Would I have trouble with Taffy trying to mark her territory. I need some advice. I am suppose to pick up the little guy tomorrow. Thanks Taffy's and Baby's mom Star |

| all males are different my scampi was an angel and never did anything indoors even as a puppy and it only took a few days to house train him but tye and zac were a nightmare and would wee up things so no one can really say what your new one will be like you just take a chance, and females dont mark so thats no worry.

| My little Taffy thinks she's a boy When she goes out to potty she pee's with both of her hind legs up in the air. Every where another dog has been she follows right behind and pee's too. It is funny watching her walk with her hind feet up. Thanks for the advice. Star Taffy and Baby mom |

| I have a male yorkie/maltese and he doesn't mark in the house but he goes everywhere Lexie pees and marks outside. If you really want this dog, I would get him neutered as soon as you can, and just potty train him to go outside, all dogs are different but if he is housetrained and neutered early the chance are he will not mark in the house..... Good Luck

| I have a female and a male yorkie. My male yorkie was fixed when he was about six months old. He is now about 9 1/2 months old and still doesn't lift his leg. My female on the other hand is such a priss, that when I take her out in the morning and the grass is still wet she lifts her back leg when she pees so she don't have to squat in the wet grass. Good Luck ! I hope your husband lets you get him. Kim

| It really differs from dog to dog. He may never lift his leg or he may do it all the time even after surgery, their is just no way to tell. You can however discourage marking in the house and you can by him bellybands to also discourage it and prevent it from happening. If you are willing to work with him to teach him that marking in the house will not be allowed, then I say go for it!!

| male Your best chance to have a non-marking male is not to have any unspayed females around him and neuter asap. |

| Talk to you Vet and see what is the earliest age he can be neutered..Some males don't learn to lift the leg if they are not around dogs that do...some do, I have a 4 month old german shepherd that he still hasn't learn to lift his leg, but he has been watching peanut go so I guess it is only a matter of time...

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | don't quote me but i heard if you get them neutered early enough you will have a better chance of them not marking.

| Thank you all for all the suggestions. I don't have a job and I am home most of the time. So I will be able to work with him. Like I said he is crate trained so when I am gone that is where he will be. I plan on getting him neuter. I need to get Taffy spayed but I am afraid of losing her. Now does anyone have any good suggestions to get hubby to agree with this. He wasn't thrilled when our son gave ,me Baby as a Christmas gift , either And he really didn't believe me when I told him I was buyi8ng Taffy and bringing her home 2 yrs ago either. Soooooo well see how tomorrow goes |
