| The first night with Lily I think everythin went ok for the first night, and yes I am pretty sleepy today. Lily ate about 9pm went out to potty(did both), slept in her crate until midnight. I then took her out again and she pee peed, played a while, gave her some nutra cal just in case, ate a tiny bit. I then put her in her crate this time she whined a lot so I of course put her in bed with me. She slept until 2 am got up ready to play, she went outside and did nothing, of course when I brought her back in she pooed in my kitchen. Then she ate again. She went back in her crate about 3am, whined but I stuck it out for about 5 minutes and she fell asleep until 8am. I think it went pretty good, although I didn't sleep hardly at all, I kept shining a flashlight on her checking her. I took her to the vet this morning and she has scabies! A type of mange, that is why her skin is flaky and itchy. So she is kinda quarantined in my kitchen from my other dogs until it is better ,hopefully a couple of days. They are all 3 on revolution now, it treats it. I had to wash my sheets too because it is contagious to people. She is also on a medicine for Cochcidia, which the breeder gave me(she said it was for stress, vet says it is for Cochcidia). The vet said she looked healthy other thatn that she is 1lb 10 oz. The vet said to try and get her to eat her puppy food in the kibble form instead of grinding it in a coffee grinder like the breeder did, so I guess I'll experiment with that today. Her mouth is so tiny I don't know if it will fit in there and it is a small kibble. Has anyone ever dealt with the scabies(it sounds so disgusting)? I don't know why the breeder didn't tell me she had it because she had to know, that kinda bothered me that she wasn't honest about that and the Cochcidia. I am going to email her and tell her, but other than that she was a very nice person and she had beautiful dogs.

| I would definitely let the breeder know about the scabies - it's very possible that she wasn't aware of it and just thought that the puppy had dry skin - but she should know so that her other dogs can be checked. It sounds like you had a pretty rough night.. I couldn't handle it - and I doubt you can handle too many nights like that. Have you thought of getting an ex-pen rather than crate training her? You could setup the ex-pen with her pee-pad in one end and her bed/blankets/toys/water/food in the other end so that when she needs to potty, she has a place to go. I did this with Oscar and it worked really well for us. I hate to say it, but you may be making things harder on yourself by giving in and letting her sleep in your bed when she whines - and it's probably not a great idea if she still needs to potty during the night - you may wake up to an unpleasant surprise. Once they get a taste of sleepin in bed with mummy, it's really hard to get them to sleep elsewhere - let alone in a crate. If you still want her to get used to her crate, you could leave the crate in her ex-pen (door open) so she can sleep in there (that way she's still getting comfortable with the crate). If you have the room for it, an ex-pen works really well. I prefer it, especially when I have to leave him home while I go out - it gives him a little more room to play and such and isn't so confining. I would feel guilty leaving him in a crate for more than an hour... I don't know if this helps you or not... good luck though!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Poor baby! We babysat at my parenst housemy sisters friends child and we did not know she had scabies and we all got them. She stayed with us for a week. The mother said she had goten onto fiberglass insulation and that was why she was itching! I don't remember to well as it was a long time ago but theres was some lotion we had to use. Good luck she will be fine but it seems to be pretty contagious.

| I did email the breeder and an hour later she called me. She had no idea that Lily had this, and was very apologetic about it. She is a groomer and seems to think it came from a cocker that was in her house that she thought just had a bad case of fleas but said it had bad flaky skin, so maybe that was it. She was going to check all of her dogs, she hasn't noticed them itching and call her vet. Lily has been such a good little girl today, she eats plays then sleeps for a couple of hours. I am going to try the crate a couple more nights and see how it goes, when crate training my other dogs it took a few nights of no sleep to get them adjusted, so I knew I wouldn't be sleeping for a while. It is just like having a newborn human baby. I can always put her in the kitchen that is gated and wood floors with paper later on if it doesn't work. I also ordered a poochie bell the other day, I can't wait to start with it. I hope my other two will use it too.
