Please help me write a health contract. I have read many health contracts on many sites and now I have 7 puppies up for sale, they are healthy and come from healthy lines. I have them on Puppyfind but the only puppy everyone is interested in is an 8 month old female. She has a sister but I'm not even getting much interest in her. I have 4 boys of 9 & 10 weeks of age and at 3 different prices and not one bit of interest in them. I have their papers from AKC, pedigrees and health certificates, I want to add a health contract and need some wording. I don't want to just copy someone else's contract and use it. I would like to use simple phrases, I don't like lawyer's legaleze. Can anyone help? Sylvia

Puppyfind rotates all the time. One of my babies is called AKC Tiny Boy, another Bandit, another Buzz, Budda, Bu-dee, I think I have added AKC to all their names. Sylvia If you go look would you tell me why you think people might not be calling on them? I tried to get the cutest pictures.

I did go to the site and look at your babies. The pictures are all very cute. What appears to be white fur on the mouth might bother some people. I think your biggest problem in not receiving responses is that your prices are very high for having no champions (compared to others advertised) in their pedigree and boys are a lot easier to find than females. Your female is more reasonably priced and females are more in demand for some reason. I think another problem might be is that the state you live in. When buyers see the State of Missouri they automatically think puppy mill. About the contract, I would read a lot of other contracts and make notes of what you want to include then just type it up with the provisions you have chosen. All that legal mumbo jumbo has reasons though so make sure your contract is clear and doesn't leave open ended provisions.

Thank you, both of you ladies. Lacy's Mom: I did forget that Missouri is known as a puppymill state. We are from Arizona and I still tend to think like I'm from there. I priced my puppies as to their predicted size and according to my mentor and the prices on Puppyfind. I think that prices are going down for a while and I am going to have to lower their prices. I have still had no interest in the little boys. Sylvia

My in-laws live in Phoeniz, AZ and I have seen some really nice small Yorkies there. They go for a good price there (1200.00 - 2000.00). Probably because there is no many retirees and what they call "snowbirds" who travel in motorhomes.

My daughter still lives there and I have seen some ads on Puppyfind from the Phoenix area that have puppies that are very tiny. I have been thinking of having my daughter go look at them but I don't want any females that are too small to breed. LOL I have one tiny female that I haven't a clue how small she's gonna be but she has attached herself to me and made me fall in love with her so I can't let her go. LOL Sylvia

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | This is more of a question about health contracts than an answer. Do any of them ever include a clause saying part of the buyer's money will be refunded if they choose to keep the pup and use the money for surgery to repair a congenital disorder? I'm thinking of the person who falls in love with a pup and discovers it has a treatable form of liver shunt. It just seems like it would be costing the breeder the same amount of money whether they refund the money or provide a replacement dog. Why not do the thing that would make everybody the happiest? A spay or neuter clause would be mandatory in such a situation.

I've not seen it before. I purchased a dog (20 years ago - for my parents) that I REALLY wish the breeder would have done this for me!!! That is before I knew what a puppy mill was... sheeesh! Live and Learn.
