| Is the garage air conditioned???? I would NOT put him in the garage unless it has AC. Yorkies can have a heat stroke in NO TIME! They need to be in an air conditioned place at all times. |

| well, it is not airconditioned now, but of course, i would make arrangements to cool it off if he were to stay in there. he is in a playpen b/c he has aggression issues and we just had a new baby...so he is in a bedroom, inside a playpen...basically so he cannot dart out of the room. he is on prozac, but isnt working the way it should. would the "garage smell" affect a dog ? |

| I have to agree with everyone else. These little yorkies are very social and want to spend time with the family and also they can go down very quickly in the heat...

| my yorkie has been anti-social since day one...never liked anyone other than the immediate family (like 4 people)...eveyrone else would be subject to attack...granted, he is only 10lbs...but as i read in other posts, although he is small, precautions should always be in place. i give him constant attention and love...i am basically the only one he'll listen to, in addition to my wife. |

| As long as its air conditioned and you check on him througout the day and let him out to play, I would say it's okay. Mine stay in a garage that has been turned into a bedroom and they do just fine. Just don't leave him and forget about him and make sure you get that air conditioner going in there as well as heat in the winter time.

| Maybe he is having aggression issues and is "darting" out of the room bc he hasn't been properly introduced to the new baby AND he just wants to spend time and be with his family! Yorkies ARE very social. He is probably just REALLY frustrated that his whole family is out around the house and he is having to stay in a playpen locked up in a room by himself. I think with some training and some socializing that your yorkie could become a part of your family again. I think he could also be taken off of Prozac if he is properly trained. Poor little guy |

| I would not keep him in the garage. Yorkies cant take the cold and the heat.

| Thanks Lydia...i figired as long as the temperature is fine, he'd be ok. As far as socializing, since i had him as a pup, he never wanted to be around anyone...i tried many many times with trainers, doctors, and everything...beleive me, i love my yorkie just as much as everyone in this forum...i turned to medication as a last resort. he has always had affection from me and free run of my house, but since the baby, we had some concerns, knowing his aggressive nature. |

| thanks RLC...but i have tried...beleive me...i have tried endlesslessly to train this dog. i am pretty much faced with the dilemna of giving him away, or keeping him secluded from the baby, and basically me only tending to him and having no other initeraction. so, with those 2 choices, knowing my dog, I KNOW he would rather see me 2 hours a day and be happy, rather than to be given to a stranger where he would live out the rest of his life miserably. |

| I commend you for asking that question here on YT! I normally don't advise this, but now I have a question for you. Did you ever think of re-homing him? I'm sure that there are a lot of people trained who would be willing to adopt him to work on the agression, and give him extra TLC. Please know, I am NOT trying to be mean to you or say that you are a bad mommy. That's not at ALL what I'm saying. I'm just saying there are other options other than placing him in a garage. But, truthfully and ultimately, you have to do what's best for you and your family. I hope you find a happy medium!
