| Scams in Toronto? I have had a response from 3 ads posted in the local papers about yorkie puppies. The impression was that they were home raised. When enquirering about papers and health certificates I then told that the puppies are imported form Slavic countries or china. They ask for the money order and go on and on about how they are either very religious and have been praying for a good home for the puppies or go as far to say the work for the church as a pastor. or are too busy doing God's work to care for the puppy. This religious jargon seems to be copied and pasted which makes me think that that this is a scam. No pics are offered of the puppies as the are intransit or they can't get them posted. I would now ask up front if the puppies have been imported from another country before going any further when answering and ad. I worry about disease and how far these little fur babies are traveling. I wonder now if these puppies in pet stores are actually brought in from the other side of the world. I wonder how come canadian customs are letting so many puppies in that are not from the US or Canada.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I have a BIG Feeling these people have NO puppies - It makes absolutely no sense to have yorkies imported when we have so many being sold in this country - Don't believe ANYTHING unless you can check it out for yourself and please NEVER Send money for a deal that sounds too good to be true !! because usually it IS. It seems there is a craze going on with the net and scammers - remember - They have NOTHING ELSE TO DO but figure out how to get our money and are very good at it. As far as using religeon in their emails - THAT'S plain sick - these people are out to rip you off and they use that kind of talk to lure you in.

By the way, people that are religious would never, or hardly ever, talk about how religious they are and how much they attend church. They're basically telling you that they're scamming you | |

| Its most likely a scam 90% sure. and they probabaly have no puppies at all. Ive almost been scammed. You will have no idea at how many people from Bamenda Cameroon are scamming. Saying they have little dogs likes chihuahuas and saying at 3 months old are fully housebroken. What a bunch of crap. I hate people like that. They need to get a real job instead of scamming peoples hard earned money. I was searching for a dog for a long time. and I had people sending me pictures of "their dogs" that I know for a fact came straight off google images. I even had one guy show me pictures of "his puppies" that came straight from a breeders website who is NOT located in Cameroon. They'll usually charge suuper low so you get so interested and think it might be a scam but you hope for the best. But really when it seems too good to be true. It probabaly is. If you were to just go to google and type in scams bamenda cameroon. A whole bunch of stuff will come up and you can read peoples stories on how they were scammed. http://www.poloniainfo.com/chihuahua-dog-scam.html http://www.petsonthenet.co.nz/scam Last edited by Bird; 07-05-2006 at 08:48 AM. |

| Forgot to mention....that the part about them saying they are a pastor.... I had one guy saying that to me too. In e-mails. he was saying just about everything you said. The religious jargon. What a loser. Probably the same guy. Or a bunch of losers who get it all from the same place. Alot of them say they lived in Toronto then had to move back to Cameroon. So now the puppies are stuck there or something. |

| As far as I know, they don't let puppies travel from China to the USA without a 3 month quarantine.......

| I live in Northern Ontario (small city...80,000 ppl) and we get the scammers in our local paper here, too...it's amazing how these people get around. Only deal with local/Canadian (some U.S) breeders...it's the only way to be sure what you're getting. These 'overseas' scammers DON'T HAVE DOGS. They just take your money and run. I agree with the above posters...if there are animals coming in from all of these far off places, they'd have to be in quarantine for some time. These guys are just trying to reel us in...making us feel sorry for these 'poor little pups', when there are no pups at all...just seemingly thousands of scammers out there making gobs of cash from people wanting puppies so badly that they don't investigate enough before they send their money. I can't imagine the number of sad stories there are out there of people being hoodwinked by these scammers. The best suggestion I got when I was looking for a puppy was to buy the Canadian Dog Magazine Annual(I think that's what it's called). It lists most of the breeders by province and by breed. Also, do check online...there are some wonderful breeders who have websites. Just be cautious, though, if you're looking online. Make sure that you are dealing with a breeder where you can go and see the puppies and the home. They are very expensive up here, but there's not much we can do about that. If you see a pup listed for much cheaper, it's usually a scam. |
