BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | whining at night The first few days I kept Lillie in my room at night, I put her blanket and a wee wee pad under a laundry basket and let her sleep there, she did wonderful, never made a peep. So I figured I would try and get her use to sleeping in the crate, which is outside my room next to the bathroom, well she whined and whined and cried and cried, poor baby sounded like someone was hurting her, so I went and talked to her and she licked me and licked me and I got her to calm down, went back to bed and she started it again, so I went and picked her up and put her back in the bedroom with me under the basket and she fell right to sleep, never made a peep! Shall I just try to ignore the crying or is it ok for her to sleep under the basket, she is so small she cant get out from under it, but it's the fact she is sleeping under a basket lol |

| Like all the other threads on this topic, most people will say to ignore the whining. I know it works It will be hard for everyone but in the end she will know that you're not abandoning her. Angel did this after a few days we got her home and everyone said to ignore it. Now she only whines/barks if she has gone potty or for her food |

| Is the basket big enough to put upside down inside the crate? Might be a way to graduate her from the basket to the crate? Can you block off part of the crate and maybe cover it partially with a towel so she might feel more secure in there? Some crates have dividers specially made to fit them for this purpose. Can you place the crate by your bed at night? I am not an expert in puppy psychology, but IMO, each time you go and sooth her when she whines, it only reinforces/encourages the whining behavior. |

Your right they need to be used to the crate because it is the safest place for them when we are away...Hopefully we will get some where with these little ones. | |

| This worked wonderfully with Cali and its been suggested a couple of times on here.. you can try putting her in her crate and pputting it on a chair right next to your face by your bed..Id stick my fingers in there until she fell asleep to let her know that I was there and after a couple of days she wouldn't whine anymore Good luck! And Im so incredibly happy for you

| I bought a stroller for Sammi ,parked it by my bed and she slept in it for the first week .She decided that she wanted to be in my bed with me and my boy Satch.I was afraid of her getting hurt too but she gets up on my pillow and surrounds my head until she is ready to go to sleep. I have a small pillow in the corner up against the wall that she sleeps on for the rest of the night.I couldn't stand her being in another room, she might sleep but I sure wouldn't!!She still loves her stroller but mostly just for our car shows.

| Try putting her in the crate and putting the crate beside your bed. Face the crate so that she can see you. That for Parker at first, but now..... Well he is so dang spoiled. He sleeps in his crate next to Maddie but Parker still barks 1/2 the night, and Maddie doesnt make a peep. I moved there cages so that they cant see each other thinking it might help,,, Parker still barks, Maddie is quiet. I got Maddie a really small wire cage. She loves it. Parker bless his heart is my problem child. lol |
