| Separation Anxiety Goes Both Ways....how bad is yours? In a previous thread, we discussed cute/funny things THEY do...and we've also discussed how attached our yorkies are to us vs. our significant others. But what about "funny/cute things WE do?" Tonight, I realized just how bad my "separation anxiety" is when I have to leave Sully....even to shower! Lately, when I shower, I just KNOW that Sully will whine outside the door (even if my hubby is home). So...knowing this, I take his pillow bed into the bathroom with me, and he curls up in the corner. He's content, knowing I'm right behind the shower curtain. We've been doing this routine for months now. Well...tonight, when I stepped out of the shower, Sully got up from his pillow, walked over to me (I'm dripping wet standing on the bathmat) and Sully started licking the water off of my ankle. He was trying to help dry me off! I wasn't sure to laugh, cry or both. It was a very cute/funny moment!!! How bad is YOUR separation anxiety? What kind of funny/silly things do you do to be with them all the time?

| Oh yes...it goes both ways!! I was out of town last Fri. and most of Saturday....and so on Saturday night when I got back, I missed Sophia so much I wanted her to sleep with me. Hubby has a big no dog in the bed rule and so I slept on the floor in an empty room half the night and on the couch the rest of the night. I just couldn't put her in the crate after I hadn't seen her. Oh, and Sophie loves to lick the water off of me when I get out of the shower. She also likes to lick the lotion off after I put it on...I have to dodge her in the bathroom when I get ready in the morning sometimes!!

| it USED to go both ways....... but not anymore, i have no problem leaving him partly because he is SO ATTACHED to me to begin with..... it is sort of like kids, you know, you need a break everyonce in a while...... while i am at home he is the king, and doesnt give me ANY SPACE AT ALL, no matter what i am doing he is sittingon me or following me around (i dont mind except when i am trying to get something really important done and he is in the way)..... so, in answere to you question, NO i dont get separation anxsiety at all.... i love toby to death, and i worry about stupid stuff like (did i leave the oven on????.... did i refill his water bottle???) but i dont necessarily worry about me not being with him 24 7.................... i did at first though (but that was also because we didnt want him to bark and give us away to our landlord) |

| My seperation anxiety is terrible. I worry about him and the puppysitters (family) tell me he cries a lot while I am gone. I've had him for five months and have only spent maybe twenty hours away from him. I think I'm creating a monster. He wants to do everything with me. Eat, nap, drive. I indulge him way too much. He is ninety five percent potty trained but last week he followed me into the bathroom and peed on my foot.

| Sound the Trumpets I'm coming home It is my belief that my dogs separation anxiety and my own stems from definitely having to get some space to myself. Wether it be arts and crafts, being on the computer, or sitting on the couch hugging my boyfriend (my dog is jealous of him) Anything that takes my attention away from him and occupies my lap is inherently bad, evil, and misunderstood. He doesn't really get aggressive or mean he just gets overly friendly and pushy to the point that I'll turn my head and find him crawling all over whatever happened to be in my lap at the moment. He will be licking me trying to pull my attention back to him. Now if I'm with my boyfriend and all the sudden a yorkie pops into my lap and intrudes on the kiss. Well not only does that make my boyfriend raise an eyebrow but it makes me feel bad and very uncomfortable. So most of the time I just go out for a night or two and leave him with my parents. As much as I love and miss him over that time I'm out, I get a little of it back for myself and I'll tell you I don't waste a second. When I get home the royal trumpet's are sounded and flaming swords are raised. Yea Panzer's happy to see me, and I'm happy to see him. Well, let's just say it's good to have time to miss each other. |

When i take a shower shes with my husband, but i dont take my time coz i know shes there waiting for me, when i get out the bathroom i can hear my husband telling her that im on my way, when she sees me shes happy and wants me to pick her up ( she ll act as if i was gone for 2 days )

| I am the same way with Louie. He goes EVERYWHERE with me...and when I leave him briefly (if I run to the grocery store-30-45 min.) I miss him terribly and I can't wait to get home. I wiz through those supermarket aisles like a crazed woman, I just can't wait to get home for my Louie. I am going to a wedding at the end of this month and he's coming with my husband and I..we are also going to new orleans for another wedding in May and he'll be with us. We change our plans as well to suit him (whether it's where we go for dinner or not catching a movie, etc.) are soo attached to him. I love having him around. In the car we chat (or I chat, he just looks at me) or I'll sing to him. LOL...I must sound like a nut. But I am CRAZY about my little baby.

Your post made me smile.... i laughed about u running round the grocerie store like a mad woman ( could be me ) lol When i do groceries i TELL my 13yr old to stay at home with ALL the doors shut and NOT to open for ANYBODY, incase she gets out ( with raised eyebrows ) lol i keep my cellphone in my jacket pocket and have it on vibration as well as on sound so if i dont hear it i will feel it just incase he needs me! Ive sneaked her into grocerie stores before but they caught my friend going in with her yorkie and asked her to leave now im scared they ll notice me too, but i will definatly try it again ... all they can do is tell me to go

| It's so nice to hear that I'm not crazy This is how bad mine is......when I was job searching my main reason for taking the job I have now is b/c my boss has 2 small dogs and let me use the family sick leave for Simon and Hallie since she considered them my children (I have no human children). Also a big perk is that we have the flexibility to work at home when we aren't teaching so I can stay home with them! I can't bear to leave them everyday alone so I take them to daycare and call to check in a few times a day. They both stand on the corner of the tub when I'm showering and peek in and lick the water off my feet. I am completely crazy about my dogs and couldn't imagine my life any other way! |

| Nope. No seperation anxiety here. I love Bailey to pieces, but I'm never gone for that long and I know he's safe in his crate when I am gone... Plus if I did get seperation anxiety when not with him, my fiance would probably get me admitted to the insane assylum |

| Well im also very attached to Gucci. I always home cause recieved SSD due to chronic fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia and chronic depression. Anyhow, if i dont see Gucci Im always looking for her since she is usually close by me. Gucci also licks my legs when i come out of the shower. Sometimes i close the door and I hear her scratching it trying to get in after me. I can be sitting and Gucci is always close by me, as soon I get up she follows me.Rarely she doesnt follw me and you see me loking for her. She has being so helpful for my depression. I love her so much. |

| Okay I know this is bad and hard to admit, but when I am away for a period of time, I will talk to my dog over the telephone. Of course, he doesn't talk back but I know he's on the other end listening! When I went to Florida for a week with my daughter's cheer team, my friend "caught me" talking on the phone to my dog and we had a laughing attack that made us both almost pee our pants. It was so funny!! |
