| For those of you with tiny yorkies Not sure where to post this. But this is to you all who have tiny babies or had them in the past. Starsky was a big boy when we got him at 9 weeks he was 2.5 lbs and very active. Never had a health problem. Well we have little Shylah now and she is only 1.9 lbs at 12 weeks and not as active. I am constantly worring about her. When we got her she had some kind of dry skin rash on her lower back, like it was bugs or something that bit her and now it is flaking away. (vet says it was some kind of allergic reaction). Then she gets this upset tummy and whimpers in pain, only to find out she ate a little piece of plastic, plus I think the bully sticks upset her tummy. Now she sneezes a lot. Not sure if it was because I gave her bath yesterday to get some of the flakes off her skin. She is either on or off. She plays for about 15 to 30 minutes and then she sleeps. ALOT! She is very snuggling and makes little squeeky noises. Is this all very normal?? The breeder said she may only grow to be 4lbs at the most. I just need someone to tell me not to worry or I need a mentor who I can talk to regulary about this little one. Thanks for listening.

| She sounds a lot like Gypsy. She will be 6 months on July 3rd and weighs 3.3 lbs. She has steadily increased her weight and though we had some health problems they were not really related to her size. She is a cuddler, loves to cuddle with me in bed. She also makes squeaky noises sometimes. My big fear is stepping on her. She also sleeps a lot in my opinion, but it is a part of being who she is. My advice is to make sure you have a good relationship with a vet who is knowledgable with small dogs. My vet is great and helped her so much with the kennel cough she had. We did not know if she would make it and the vet now calls Gypsy her miracle baby.

YT 5000 Club Member | I think she sounds normal to me! My oldest furbaby, Gidget, is 6 lbs. and Chloe who is almost 8 months old is still 3lbs. 12 oz! I think she will stay around 4 lbs too! She is alot different from Gidget, she sleeps alittle more also. Gidget is also just uncontrollably hyperactive and Chloe isn't. We can take her outside and she stays with us! You take Gidget outside without a harness and she takes off! I think your little one is ok!

| Hello, my little Izzie was only 1 lb 4 ozs at 12 weeks. She was born 2/1/06 and now at 22 weeks (tomorrow) or 5 months depending whether you go by weeks or months, she weighs 2 lbs 8 ozs. I don't expect her to make 3 lbs at all. I do have another small one, my Joey is soon to be 2 year old and weighs 3 lbs 13 ozs. I'm happy to say she (or Joey) has not had allergies or any kind of skin problems. She does play with all she's got for quite awhile, but then sleeps quite a bit. I give her Frosted Cheerios for snacks just to help keep her sugar level up, although I haven't had that as a problem either. I also bath her in Johnson's Baby Shampoo because it's so gentle. She makes little noises too, when she wants out of her x-pen she sounds like a cat howling. Would love to see pics of your little furbaby. My Izzie is in "My Yorkie" forum under "Izzie in her vest".

| Pups do sleep a lot. I'd have your vet give her a very thorough exam and have him listen to her lungs. Not all Yorkies are spastic and crazy when pups. My Cowboy had 2 very calm parents and he was the calmest Yorkie pup I have EVER seen. He is small also (11 mos old and just a tad over 3 pounds) and very healthy....no problems at all. Watch her closely, remember you have a new baby in the house now and puppy proof it as much as possible. You'll have to do the "puppy shuffle" until she gets quick/smart enough to move away from walking feet. I sure hope you get a clean bill of health on her. |

| Jaxon is 9 months and still sleeps a ton. I've just gotten used to it over time. This site is great for any concerns you have - use the search function and you can always find someone who's gone through something similar. I would be lost without YT!!!

| Kali is 14 wks old and weighs 1 lb. 14 ounces. She can play for 4 straight hours non stop. She is a wild and crazy puppy. She goes to bed around 10 -11 and I'm lucky if she sleeps until 5. I think it just depends on the puppies personality not the weight of the furbaby. |

| I think she is fine! She sounds like a normal pup to me! Yorkies are supposed to be little! If her engergy is way down, maybe some nutrical would help? I noticed when my pups were little, and they seemed out of energy, it helped and seemed to pep them up. It also stimulates appetite, incase she is a little underweight, she will eat more. |

| I have two that are under 3 lbs full grown. I was blessed they have been healthy. My vet said to give then about 2 cc of karo everytime I fed them and they never had any trouble, I did it for the first 6 months. There stomachs are so small they use up all ther energy fast.

| We can hold eachothers hand Het Teddybear... I know how you are feeling. Tia is 11 weeks old and is 1.1 lbs. Bailey was 13 weeks when we got her and she was over 2.3 pounds. It is a bit scary. But let me reassure you...everything you are saying Shylah is exactly whats happening with Tia. She doesn't play too long, sleeps alot and makes those little squeaky noises (which I think is adorable). Tia was the runt of the litter and when I told my breeder I wanted her, she asked me to take her since I had experience with the breed. I love her to bits but it is different than with Bailey, plus knowing some of the risk they run when they are so small can scare me some time. I can't mentor you but would love to chat about our experiences as we go though them together. PM me anytime

| Thank you all for your response. She is doing a lot better today. One of her ears popped up, still has one drooping one, but that is the ear that looked injured from one of the other puppies she was with. I will post pictures a little later tonight. Baileysmom, I would love to share our yorkie stories together.

| Georgie is 3 1/2lbs and he just turned 1, he was 1lb when he came home at 10 weeks. It's sounds very normal what you are describing he is the same way on or off. I know how you feel I worry about Georgie all the time, but he has always been perfectly healthy.
