| SO Mad and So happy to see a Sticky Yorkie! GRRRR and Hooray!!!!!! THe kids and I were outside on the porch and my daughters lil yorkie was with us. I was on the phone paying about half the attention to what was going on. I got off the phone and no yorkie! I wasnt frantic at first, until we checked the backyard and side yard and she wasnt there! I thought Oh my GOd someone stole her, but then again I was outside and I can see the entire road from the porch, no one had stopped, then I thought Oh No an owl got her, a hawk, a coyote! I really started getting frantic. My kids and I called and called her name with no yorkie girl coming. My husband came home about 15 mintues later and he started looking too. Finally I decided I was taking the kids in the car and going up and down the road. As I was loading the kids I heard a series of barks in the thicket behind our house (we live very rurally) but then it stopped. Anyway my husband went into the thicket calling for our dog, she wouldnt bark if you called for her but if you stopped, she began barking. After several minutes hubby found her caught in tons of briars and burrs! She was caught in the branches by all the burrs. When hubby came out, he had burrs in his hair, all over him! BUt Our yorkie was unrecognizable!!!!!!!! the burrs were matting her eyes shut and her floor length hair was completely matted to her skin with literally thousands of tiny burrs!! She could barely open her mouth because the burrs had her hair so matted on her face. But I was sooooooooo happy to see her!!!! I didnt know what else to do to get out the burrs, so I covered her in vegetable oil and began plucking. That was the GRRRRRRRRRR part, it took 3 hours to get this mess out. I washed her three times in baby shampoo because I had to wash near her eyes so much and today she still has the greasiest hair you have ever seen!!!! and yes it is shorter because it was impossible to get all the mess out...........lol |

| Red, I did start to try conditioner (but didnt try to bath her first) the conditioner wasnt slimmy enough get the burrs to slid out. Then I tried the veg oil. It was slick and did work. At first I was just sure she would have to be cut down to the bare skin it was so bad. |

| I'm so happy you knew what to do using vegetable oil. I would never have thought of that. We don't have any kind of burr stuff around, but ya never know when we go for walks. Have added that to my list of tips. Glad everything is okay now.

| Wow what a job! Poor little pup. So glad you found him. Buddy had two on one time and they were a pain to get out. I can't imagine the work you had to do. Would have never thought of vegtable oil. The things you learn on this site is amazing. Glad he is safe. |

| I know exactly what you went through!! About a week ago we went through the same thing!! We live in a rural location and we usually let Reuger roam because our neighbors are family and we're a quarter mile off of the main road. Well, Reuger decided to roam all around, I guess. I don't know where all he went. After a period of time I called my husband to make sure that he hadn't taken him with him and he said that he hadn't but that he was probably at my daughters so he went by and got him on his way home. My daughter came in followed by my husband and they both were trying to control their laughter when my daughter handed Reuger to me. He was covered, and I mean layer upon layer covered, with stick-tights!!! I thought that I was going to have to shave him but I got out a bottle of creme rinse and went to work. It took my daughter and I over an hour to get them all out!!! I had a bowl full of stick-tights by the time I got done. Needless to say, I had a really soft dog after that!! Now Reuger is chained up so he roams no more!!!
