| Chloe is very sick, advice needed pls Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I have been on site because of personal issues, moving, etc. The important question I have is about Chloe, my 2 yr old Yorkie. About a week ago, she had vomiting, the runs, etc and became dehydrated. Took her to the vet, who got her back on track after a couple of days. Last night, she started up again, only this time the vet told me after taking a lot of tests that she is diabetic and possibly has Addisions disease. She is now in the doggie hospital but I am not so sure I agree. I looked at all the results and her blood sugar was high and her electrolytes were a mess. So I agreed to keeping her with IV meds etc. However, she likes to gulp at the water hose, a lot. It seems like everytime this type of thing happens it is after she has played with the water, jumping up at the stream and gulping it. I told the vet about this but she did not believe it is water toxicity, but I'm just not so sure. She seems too young for diabetes and it seems like too much of a coincidence to me. Then, this morning, the vet called to say her blood sugar level was too low, so they were keeping her for monitoring. I am devastated, has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? Any suggestions? |

| I don't know. I sure wish I could help you out. Has this vet been good in the past? If so, I think I would have to trust him at this point. At least that is what I would do. Keep us posted. I am requesting a little prayer for you and Chloe.

| I really doubt the water could have caused anything, probably just a coincidence. There is a test to determine if she has addison's disease which will be treated with pills. Other than the costs and routine monitoring involved she will lead a normal life. I will keep her in my prayers. I hope she is back home with you soon. Keep us posted on how she is doing. |

| I don't have any experience with this, but I'm thinking about you both. It's really difficult when they're sick. I hope by bumping this up that someone with experience with it will reply. Good luck and remember you aren't alone.
