| Any experience in importing a puppy? A friend of mine is trying to get her puppy from Swiss. The problem is with transporting. With Air Canada it will cost 1543$. Swissair don't come to Montreal. Does any of you having any experience with that kind of matter. Do you have some suggestion? Thanks.

| No experience, but from all the scams I've read about on YT, I wouldn't purchase a puppy from anyone - especially someone outside the country - that didn't come with personal references from people I know personally and trust. There's just too much risk of getting no puppy at all or getting one that has been grossly misrepresented. |

The problem is really the transport fee. If there is no other way my friend will go to Swiss just to bring back to puppy and instead of 1543$ it will cost 1643$..........is that stupid.

| It is totally insane - but I've run into that sort of pricing absurdity before regarding air freight/air fares. |

| I just placed a thread earlier today in Breeder Talk YT to inform others about shipping into the US. All I know is now everyone needs a Broker to help with the paperwork through customs. From Europe to US it cost 400. for the shipping and then I have to pay my broker here in the US 200 for them to process the paperwork once it gets here to get through cusoms. And then my breeder had to hire her own broker there in her country and I do not know how much she paid for her broker to do her paperwork on her end. Everything is getting so expensive and if you do not hire a broker it takes a lot longer to go through and the puppy may have to spend the night in a kennel. So I do not want her to have to go through that - so I got a broker. If you both contact the airlines - they can give you the numbers of the more reputable Brokers at the airport in your areas and they can tell you what you need to do and how much it will coast! Best of luck! T. |
