| Hi I'm a newbie with an airline ??. Hi everyone. I've been lurking on here for a few days reading a zillion posts and decided to register. I am a mom of 5 kids and lots of four legged kids. Currently we have 3 horses ( i am training to barrel race), 1 yorkie female, Katie who is 5 months old, an english bulldog, Lucy Lou and a boxer, Roxy. We also have a cat, chickens, 2 geese and 2 rabbits. We live in MT on about 8 acres. I have wanted yorkies since I can remember and now am totally in love with my little girl. She is getting a playmate next week and i am trying to figure out the best way to get her here to me. My BIL has a male pup that he is giving me. (his aunt raises yorkies). My DH is coming up either via United or Delta. (He is working in NM currently). and can bring the puppy with him. My ?? is do they allow this? Can they fly with someone as opposed to being shipped? He is about 3lbs, maybe a bit bigger and is about the same age as my Katie bug. I'm loving this site so far. There is SOO much great information. Looking forward to getting to know ya'll better. | Welcome to YT! I am almost positive most airlines let you travel with puppies, but he will have to have an airline approved carrier so that the puppy can be put under the seat. Call the airline to make sure though! Glad to have you here can't wait to see pictures of ALLLL your babies!!!

| go to the airlines web site and there should be something on there regarding pets in the cabin. I know Alaska Airlines allows it...it will cost you 75.00 and you have to leave him in his bag during the flight. Continental does as well, they charge 80.00... I know Southwest Airlines doesn't allow pets on their planes (nor dead bodies). Web site should give all info though. I also had to have a certificate of health from the vet, but no one ever asked for this. Congrats on your new baby!!

| You can purchase a dog carrier that is airline approved and have your pup fly with your Husband in the cabin. There are specific guidelines regarding the maximum size of the carrier so that it will fit under the seat in front of you, but most bags will advertise if they are airline approved or not. Celltei bags are fantastic (you might be able to find someone who sells them close to you so you can get it quickly - or pay extra to have it shipped faster from www.celltei.com ). Lots of people on here can vouch for the celltei and most of their bags are airline approved. I have the Pak-O-Pet in classic black in an xtra small (Oscar is 3lbs and has lots of room) and it is airline approved. I don't know if there are different rules for different airlines, but I'm pretty sure most allow it.

| Just make sure you book a reservation for your little one. Many airlines only allow so many dogs on the flights - no matter the size. You will have to call them probably as I am not sure if you can do it online.

| One hint...call the airline of your choice and schedule it. I tried online and then called the airline to verify everyone was set...it didn't go through correctly and they didn't have a dog scheduled. It worked out in the end, but it would be easier to just call first!
