| Hair Tips Please Hello, The breeder we got Mia from told us to get Mia used to having her hair tied when she is little or else she will take her hairband right off when she is grown. Then, the other day we were at a pet store, where I was looking at hair ornaments, and the owner-lady told me that they don't sell elastic hairbands because they hurt the puppy when putting on & taking off, and that the elastic ones would break her hair. Instead, she suggested alligator clasps (?). Anyhow, on this site I keep seeing pictures of Yorkies with beautifully done hair. So, I would like to ask you: When and how did you start doing your Yorkie's hair? Are elastic hairbands bad for my baby? What kinds of hair ornaments do you use? Where do you buy them? Thank you! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | We used Elastic Too - also LATEX Bands are easy to get on and off - just remember - not too tight - and not too loose. Make sure you can kind of wiggle it on the head so it has some "Give" ....but not too much or it'll move and annoy her - It just takes practice - and you don't have to be in a rush to have your baby wear a bow - one day - she'll have to have her hair up EVERY DAY so enjoy her short hair ~! The Clips and 'Alligator type' barrettes can fall out ...and your puppy can swallow them or chew them - so bands are actually better and safer. |

| I use the ouchless bands occasionally but have found that the latex ones hold better. I have never tried rubber bands for fear that they would get tangled in her hair. I started putting Sophie's hair up regularly when it started to get in her eyes.
