| Rabies vaccine? Oscar hasn't had his rabies shot yet - I know he needs to have it... and I've heard that dogs can sometimes have reactions to it. What kinds of reactions can they have? are they serious? Or just generally feelings of yuckiness for a couple days like some other vaccines?

| Pixie was lethargic for a day or two and developed a good sized lump at the injection site... Fortunately the lump went away after about 6 weeks. I would think the rabies vaccine poses the same reaction risks as all other vaccinations.... Has your pup had a reaction to any other shots he's gotten? If not, I would think he'd be okay. Discuss it with your vet and see what he has to say about it. |

| Hopefully he'll be fine then... How does the law read in your state? Could you get out of getting a rabies shot? I know in WI I can have a vet provide a waiver saying the dog has a reaction to the last one and shouldn't get the vaccine again... I would probably still have the initial shot though. I'd hate for Oscar to get bitten and then have something happen to him because he didn't get the rabies vaccination! I don't think there's any way to tell if he's going to react to it or not until he actually gets it... Check out DogAdverseReactions.com They have a page on vaccines with all kinds of information and articles to read through. |

| Lil Bumblebee got hers and she didn't have any reaction to it. It didn't even slow her down.

| Most of the time they are just sleepy. They might get a bump at the shot site. They mght be achy or whiney. Think signs of something more serious might be a temperature rise or trouble breathing.

| I'm sure he will be fine. When I took Princess it hurt me more than it did her.

| My Izzie is 19 weeks old and hasn't had her rabie shot yet. She was only 1 lb 5 ozs when it was due and since she is so tiny, I waited. She weighs 2 lbs 5 ozs now, so I will be getting hers any time now. I may wait till she's 6 months, I'm not sure yet.

| Oscar had his shot today and he did just fine like everyone said. The vet used a kitten needle so he didn't even feel it go in. He's had no reaction at all, if anything a little sleepier than normal, but 100% fine this afternoon! Thanks guys!
