| Rearend Shaving I am trying to get the nerve up to do the rearend shaving for the first time. I bought a mens mustache trimmer at Wally World with good intentions of using them. My yorkies are 2 1/2 years old and I have always had the groomer do this, but am thinking that I should bite the bullet and try it myself. Any advise would be helpful!!!! |

| Oh I wish I could help ya, I'd be too scared, maybe if this is something you want to try, it might be a good idea to go to your Groomer and let them show you the right way. Best of luck to you.

| I have better luck if I can lay them on their backs and shave their rear like that. if they are standing up, they hide itwith their tails. |

| I make Jazzie stand on the toilet seat lid. NOTE: It's imperative that the lid is in the down position or you will have a very wet yorkie. Have some TP Torn and on Stand-by for UHO's* you may encounter. Put a towel over the lid so they don't slip Lift the tail firmly Turn on the clipper Trim a little at a time until you think you got enough Croon "Good Girl" or "Good Boy" or "Good (insert name here)" in a reassuring way. Don't worry, you may be a rookie but your kiddo is a Pro with sanitation trim by the groomer, so this should not be too foreign to him. If you are asking "Why the toilet?", well if there are any UHO's* in the vicinity, the means of disposal is an arms reach away! *UHO = Unsanitary Hanging Objects

| I just went a little crazy on Ella's rear end. I just lay her on her back and give her a tummy rub while I snip away with the scissors. I don't shave it. It looks a bit funny at the moment because she has long hairy legs and a short golden butt but it does look cute when she runs. Plus it is much easier to keep. Good luck! |

| Ok, I did it. My first girl stood very still and did great. The second girl clamped her little tail down so tight I had a hard time even finding the tail. Anyway I did end up shaving some hair off. I did nick her a little bit and she started bleeding some. I felt terrible!!!!!hope next time will be easier for all three of us. |

Now you can try their paws if you haven't yet and the clippers are great for trimming the ears. I'm proud of you!

| The first time is the worst, and now you will know what to do next time. So sorry that you nick one of them. But it was an accident and she is ok. I use clippers to shave Gucci's rear end a while back and she kept moving but I did it. I tried putting her on her back but she wouldnt go for that. I think the nose trimmers are a good idea. |

| The nose trimmer sounds like a good idea. Maybe I should pick one of those up before the next trim. Thanks!! |

| Hey, congrats on your first try! Please don't forget to sanitize the moustache clipper every time with Isopropanol or their can be an infection. |

| I've been very lucky to never have nicked any of my four. I don't put the clippers right to the skin at first, I gradually work my way down. Since I bathe and trim mine everyother weekend, it doesn't grow too fast in that area to have "cling-ons". I not only shave their little buns, but their pee pees too. The more you do it, the better at it you get. Just don't be nervous and have your hands shaking. That would be scary.
