| Camping with a yorkie Not sure if this was brought up before. How many of you have taken your yorkies tent camping? Are they good? Do they bark alot?? Do they stay warm? We are going to Vail Colorado to camp and want to bring Starsky with us. We use a tent and never have tried to camp with a dog. Help me with your input or warnings. thanks

| My first advice, always, always, always keep them on a leash. We have taken our two yorkies camping and they were fine. Yes, they did bark at new things, but that was to be expected. All in all they had a great time. Also, make sure you have done you flea and tick protection....(heartworm too).... We had a great time....

| This topic was brought up right before the 3-day weekend last week and thought is was a great thread. We took Bailey and Morgan on their very first camping trip and althought it rained and t-stormed the whole time it was good. I took our big 35" x 50" crate so they could both be in it together and bought a dog cable and strapped either in to a tree and slid their leashes through it so they had some run time without someone having to hold them the entire time. Although they were both cold they learned they could get close together to keep warm and actually they did a lot of bonding together. Bailey even shared his food with the squirrels.

| camping we will go I take Starsky in for his rabies and bordetella shot in a couple of weeks, I will ask about the tick and heartworm then too. Great idea. I am also going to get him the puppy cut so we don't have to worry about stickers and stuff getting trapped in his hair. I'll bring a sweater for him on the cool nights, in case he won't get in the sleeping bag with me. He also has his polar fleece blanket. I just hope he isn't home sick for his brother Haggis (beagle) which we can't take. Haggis does not like to travel! To much anxiety. We will be gone for 3 nights and 4 days. I am going to watch him while my husband and daughter go on a bike ride and they will watch him while I horseback ride. Otherwise he will come with me everywhere, even watching the Lacrosse tournament in Vail. I just hope he isn't too hot! I will bring my portashade umbrella!

| I took Raisin once and she loved it, but she was loved everything. She was as good as gold and we had a lot of fun. She was never much of a barker and you would not even know she was there. |

| Hello, we take Teddy and Tiffanie with us, we take their dog carriers with us for them to sleep in or they sleep with us. They don't really bark that much, Tiffanie is the barker and will let U know when a stranger is around, & I like that for I'm chicken when I hear stange noises @ night lol. Ours seemed to enjoy it...I enjoy taking them to see how they react to different things. We took them on Labor Day Weekend last year and they didn't get cold in the carriers, we put blankets in there with them too so that may of helped some. Hugs, Lee |
