| help my dog is gagging Hi I am brand new, I have a yorkie who is 11 wks old and for the past two weeks Pebbles has been acting either like she is choking or wanting to throw up, I took her to the vet and he said it might be a digestiion prob. he gave her id food for two days but that did not help, she is back to eruanuka again. She is very playful, eats all her food and does not appear sick, but she has me very worried. Thanks also to MamaLuvsFrankie as she told me how to post a ? here. Please help |

| Has your baby been vaccinated for kennel cough? Where did you buy your Yorkie? Could she have been exposed to it before you got her? Also, I am hearing about tonsillitis..It makes them cough. I have a sweet little chocolate male who is doing the same thing. No mucus when he coughs. It is not collapsing trachea-I KNOW that sound. Maybe your vet would consider an antibiotic(now, I want to say I am not suggesting she get meds if she doesn't have a bacterial infection) of one of the cough pills. I cannot remember the name of the pills but they work, somewhat.. |

| help my dog is gagging I noticed Frankie doing that a couple times & during one of those times he had a hair sticking out of his mouth so I pulled it and it was a hairball stuck in his throat. He thinks he's a cat sometimes. Hope it's nothing serious.

| Bella sounded like that after about 1 week, she went to the vet and she had caught Kennell Cough, the vet said she could of caught it the week before we got her and it stays with her for a while. The vet gave her a Bordella (sp?) vacinne spray and gave me medicine to give her. She is fine now 1 week later

| Hi whispersmom2, no she has not been vaccinated for kennel cough. I bought her from a private breeder. I will suggest that when I go next Saturday for her third set of shots. I have had her for almost a month and she started with this about two weeks ago. I thought maybe allergies or a cold from bathing her, even though I do blow dry her completely after bath |

| Hi Babi, I too experienced this about a week or so after i purchased Gino from a private breeder. The coughing didn't let up and he developed a fever. I took him to the vet right away and it was Kennel cough. They told me that even though he had been vaccinated for this there were several strains of it. He couldn't shake it. After two more visits he was finally okay. It did take him about a month to stop coughing completely though. I think it might be more common then we think. Good luck with yours. |

| The worst place for your puppy to pick something up at it the vet. I know they wipe the tables and everthing. I always bring a baby blanket and put on the table and then wash it when I get home. Just a thought for the next time you go to the vet.

| Hi. Kennel cough is important to check for. If the vet says no to a physical illness or medical problem: I would switch foods, and goto a higher quality food mixture. I have included two links of things I have suggested for others that might help for you. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...62&postcount=3 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...74&postcount=8 Best, d |
