Omg Who's Furbaby Came from a Petstore?

I'm not afraid to admit it. Baby came from a petstore. OF COURSE...before I knew about puppymills. I should have done my homework first, but I did it arse backwards. I was just wondering who has furbabies that came from those wretched petstores too?

My first yorkie Lacey came from a pet store. She was wonderful in every way. My parents got her for me when I was only 15. They were clueless about puppy mills. But, she was super smart and completly healthy. Until she died from kidney failure at the age of 13 and half at the end of June last year.

I have another yorkie now Chloe. She will be 5 months old on the 28th of this month. I got her from a local breeder. Two totally different personalities. Attached on the left is two pictures of my beloved yorkie Lacey. The last two are of my yorkie Chloe. Can't really tell that much of a difference or can you?

Talk about clueless, we wanted to get Megan a puppy for her birthday so we went to the pet store, not even knowing what breed we would get. We picked out the cutest one, who happened to be a yorkie. (Hubby did say he wanted a yorkie, I'd never heard of them). Of course you all know Bandit was very sick and died a month after we got him. I always learn my lessons the hard way!

Tucker came from a breeder a few miles from our house. He is big for a yorkie (9lbs) and his ears never stood up, but we love him to death. And he is as healthy as a horse!

Gracie came from a Petstore in Bergen County,NJ ( turns out they are horriable to there animals -abuse, neglect written about in the paper). My first Yorkie Maddie came from a breeder in upstate NY and we researched her and felt very confident with her. Maddie died just three days after we took her home so I said to myself if she came from a breeder and died how bad could this clean petstore be. Gracie has had a host of health problems but I would not trade her for the world. But needless to say I have learned a very expensive lesson..................

Mine did, but we saw nothing wrong. We know a bunch of people who got puppies there. And they don't take puppies from puppy mills of course! They take from small breeders. Like if I was to breed my dog, we'd sell the dog to them, and then they resell it.
They took such good care of my baby before we got her! She got a cold when we took her home, and they gave us medicine. And she's guaranteed, all of her medicines are free, (for her cough, we had to give her a nebulizer)

So we're happy with our pet shop puppy!

My Pom is from a Pet store but was an impulse buy by my husband after my last yorkie died. She has been healthy but her personality is bad. I have learned so much from YT and will be much smarter when buying my next dog.

my silky and second yorkshire were from petshop but they are both healthy n with good temperament.

My first yorkshire was from breeder but he was sick when he was a pup-runny nose n cough. His temperament is not very good. He is only sweet towards us and his two pals.
Other than that, he is very defensive and not friendly with humans and dogs.
Getting into fights is common for him. But we still love thaty head strong guy to bits. He is big for a yorkshire as well -around 7pounds.

So, in my opinion, not all petshops are bad.

Jazzie is from a pet store too. She is a 10 pound "full-figured, big-boned" gal! Her only health problem is with allergies.

Her temperment is very calm and she loves to meet new people & animals. She is by far the smartest furbaby I have ever had and we love her beyond words.

Jewel came from a breeder and she died from a very rare disease shortly after her 3rd birthday.

I understand the whole puppy mill problem and would not consider buying another one from a pet store but on the other hand I believe just like humans each pup is different in temperment and health.

What I do know is regardless of where or how your baby came to be, the love you share is all that matters.

Love Breeders Only!

Well personally my 2 Yorkies, 1 male and 1 female......Artie & Abi respectively were both from Breeders supposedly. (Artie was through the Internet) I purchased Abi from a local Breeder, just around the corner from me.
But my Sister just bought a male Yorkie from her local "Pet Store" at the Mall,
her Husband just paid $1,799.00 plus tax and the whole deal, including car seat, carrier, puppy pads and the whole 9 yards, etc. It was her Mother's Day Gift! She had been waiting only 2 months to get a free puppy, from me....
being her big sister? After her "Best Friend" purchased a Yorkie from the same Pet Store just a month before, she spent $2,500.00, for her Yorkie and Supplies! Niether one had even thought of a local Breeder, they were both impatient and mentally lazy to do any research! They both complained of the same problems; hard to crate train, due to the fact they were kept in a cage
all of the time, and they would not eat their dogfood b/c it reminded them of the Pet Store? They both have tried to get more info. on the Breeders, but no such Luck from the store. The Pet Store gave them both a 3 yr. health warranty....so I guess we have 3 yrs. to see? Not that I wish anything bad on either one of them, my fingers are crossed. Besides I was the one that convinced her that Yorkies, were easy to train etc. And how happy I was with mine! Love is the same, no matter where they came from?

Default Jasper was a pet store pup!

We had no problems with Jasper's temperment, but his health was awful. He had luxating patellas and seizures his entire life. Never would buy a pet store pup after that.

I had recieved a business card from a friend, of a breeder that had yorkies. ( I was wanting one so bad and constantly on the lookout for a breeder in my area) So I called him and made arrangements to come and look at a litter that was 5 weeks old. He told me about one pup that he had that was 10 weeks old and I had to go see him that night. As soon as I got to his house they had about 5 inside yorkies. But the pups werent there So then he tells me that they are down the alley at their kennel. So I'm like ok, lets go see. I walk inside and I was shocked. He had alot of dogs. He showed me the 5 week old pups and then he showed me the 10 week one. At that moment, I fell in love. He was gorgeous and so scared. I had to save him. He was the calmest puppy. He had a lil patch of white on his head and I thought it made him adorable. So here it has been a year now, and he is such a great dog. He did turn out to be 10 lbs, but I dont love him any less. His health has been great! No problems what so ever.
I will say that I wont buy another dog from a puppy mill. And I will def. do my research next time. I wish more people are aware of puppy mills, cause I didnt even know what one was. One thing I have to note though, is that it was very clean for having alot of dogs. They didnt have poop all over them or anything. They all had food and water and did look to be taken care of.

I don't think it's so much that you will get a sick animal...You can get a sick animal anywhere...but, buying from a pet store is supporting puppy mills...WHICH I DON'T!! You have to be so careful...Even buying off the internet...they can tell you anything...How will you know if they are telling you the truth. Unless of course you know the person....I would suggest going on a site that shows and explains exactly what happens to these poor animals at puppy mills...It will make you SICK!

A farm is a place where they raise animals....the net has tons of information about puppy mills - I would suggest you do a search ...good luck.
